Another round with the Formula MB and could not be happier.   It feels almost identical to the iron feel and I can really go after it or just swing in control with the same results.   Thanks to MarkHeardJr for his assistance with some of my questions since I was buying this blind but the 65X is absolutely perfect for me (swing speed around 105-109). If you love the feeling of the irons you will definitely like this in your woods.

Got my M1 15° 3W from TMAG last night. Haven't even hit it yet and it has the paint ridge from heel to toe. Wondering if I just live with it or try to deal with exchange process?

It might not make a difference in performance and may never crack.  But, you'll always know it's there, even if those issues don't pop up down the road.  Personally, if it doesn't take too long, I'd exchange it.

So is it just the M1? Or is both M1 and M2 driver, wood, and hybrid?

Hi, I've got a hairline "ridge" in or on the white laminate that runs parallel to the black on the crown (almost full length of crown heel to toe). Now I've only hit 10 balls but my question is will this ridge develop a crack. Should I be worried cuz really it is not noticeable except in certain light but definitely there. I really don't care personally but if it develops a crack I'll be more than worried. Anybody with the same issue could you chime in on as it is something to worry about or not. Thanx.

The line on the clear coat on mine is all the way across the crown now and is clearly visible at address in sunlight. Mine also has the ridge. I've only played two rounds with it and it's never been to the range.

M1 fwy.jpg

mine had this EXACT same crack beneath the paint as well then finally let go
used for one range session and maybe 3 rounds
the forward weight also would not lock down and stay put, so 2 issues w mine
I took it back last night exchanged for an R15, as this wont be the last one that cracks like this

disappointing, it was a good driver, but the R15 isn't that much different IMO

That's where the metal face meets the composite crown.  I was told that there's a tape line there where it's bonded and sometimes can show through the paint.

Cosmos, I actually just dealt with a crack issue. Mine was very different though. My M1 was cracking on the rear of the crown right where the joint is where it says "tuned performance". TM customer service was real quick though and didn't ask questions (maybe thanks to the golf store too). My replacement came in and after 10 hits, it has the "crack" along the joint where the carbon fiber and titanium meet like the earlier pictures were showing. So I don't believe this issue has been fixed...I'm going to keep warrantying mine until they give me one without issues.

I got a M! 8.5 early in the season. A few weeks of playing and i noticed the swirl in the white paint. Sent it back under warranty to TM and it took the m3 weeks to send me a new one.

3 weeks back, i saw a crack in the driver after a month of use. This time, it was in the carbon composite area. Its gone back to TM.

Really frustrated with the driver. It flat out performs when its not cracked!! I would have expected TM to do a better job with the timelines in terms of exchanges under warranty, given the fact that its a known issue with these drivers!

I did notice a change in acoustics as well after the crack appeared..

Perhaps the extra cost, ($800), and the new 'patriotic color scheme' will prevent it from cracking!... :D

Yet another example to prove there is no direct relationship between price and performance...

Received my M1 from taylormade 3 weeks ago.  Never felt the same as when I was fit on the range by taylormad staff. Head sounds clunky and feels heavier.  Crack has developed in white section running parralel to black section. From Center towards heel.  Luckily still have my aeroburner which seems more consistent and better feeling.

Sadly this will always be a concern when two different materials are joined together. Seems a bit more prevalent with TM however they do sell significantly more drivers than the others so it kind of makes sense. No consultation for the people who must deal with warranty issues, especially here in the Midwest and North where the season isn't year round. BB

Noticed a very subtle ridge line on the crown of the M2 I just picked up. Runs parallel to the topline/carbon border in the white painted portion. Seems just about where the two materials would've come together. You can't even tell unless you catch it in the right light, you can see the two spherical surfaces are just slightly out of sync with each other. Its super subtle like I said, and I'd prefer better craftsmanship, but as long as the integrity of the head is sound I'm cool with it. Anyone know if its really common on M2s and I'm good to ignore it or could this affect playability?

Common. Mine is the exact same way and no issues yet. I think it's something that we need to keep a close eye on though to make sure separation doesn't occur.

I was fit for mine last year at this time and mine has begun to show the same trench line and a little cracking pattern near the center mark on top of the crown. I'm gonna take it back to where I was fit to see what they can do.

Update - I talked to Miles of Golf where I was fit for mine, they said I would have better luck getting it expedited if I called TMgolf, so I did. TM is sending a new 2017 head out tomorrow since I have a golf trip next week. All parties involved handled my situation perfectly. Miles of Golf is even giving me a 30 minute Trackman session to with my fitter who fit me before to check the new head and get it all dialed in.

I purchased my M1 at Golfsmith in the fall. It has the dreaded crack line after about 10 rounds and a couple range sessions. The problem is I do not have my receipt! Am I toast as far as a replacement head? Don't want the 2017 M1 just want an original replacement.
