For me I still think the all time best carbon fiber driver is the FT-9 Tour Authentic. I just refreshed mine with a spa day and new Oban and I'm LOVING it, the feel is amazing. In regards to durability this model had seam issues too. My guess it's the nature of the beast when you combine exotic materials. BB

I still love my FT-9 Tour driver to death but i can't keep the ball down since i can't go lower than 8.5
M1 at 6.5 is still flying high but there is a forward motion at descent which equated to more distance in carry and roll

You can't keep the ball down with a 6.5* M1??? Good lord

Launched at 16*+

It was getting out there. Best carry number was 322 at the outdoor range hitting range balls on TMAG's flightscope.
What's funny about this is that i got warmed up after the fitting session was done and i think i was hitting them noticeably better with more consistency. Couldn't tell you if it was going further since range is only 265ish long

Well, anybody sent theirs in yet? Looks like mine has started to "crack" (small hairline 1-2mm) as well and want to know what to expect...

This happened to mine today after 2 rounds.  Called TM and they are having me send it in to look at and send me a new head.

I looked at mine today and I have this crack starting at the heal of the driver as well as the dent/bulge on the toe side of the crown.  Not to mention there is a small hair or fiber that was clear coated over and is a permanent part of the head.  I think I might just warranty this and get a cobra.  For the price of these things the poor quality is unacceptable.

Thread is 3 pages long and I think only 2 people put in pics of their driver (not rescue) that has issues.  Pics would be nice.

2 people out of thousands sold is probably not significant.

I have no pics but within 3 days of using mine it started to Crack and had noticeable paint quality issues. I showed multiple people at my course and they said it looked fake.

I bought at TGW, I called Taylormade and the guy argued with me saying it was impossible. So I sent pics to him and forwarded this thread. I got mad about it and never answered back to them sent it back TGW and got money back.

I am know Taylormade hater either, actually like them. But they seem to have more quality control issues then most. I had the sldr with the plate come off, r15 plate on bottom come off, udi back plate come off and paint issues on most of the drivers I have bought.

They are great clubs just need to have better quality control and would be perfect.

Why do we have to post pictures for this to be true?  It looks just like all the other pictures. Almost exactly.

my 430 doesn't have paint cracking issues, however it has clear coat peeling issues along the indent of the carbon/white paint break. this is a known issue according to my chat with taylormade on their site. they're requesting you to return it to the place you bought it, start a return process and will exchange for a new head.

For years I had hoped callaway would just give up on carbon fiber for the reasons mentioned above... How many drivers did they go through before they finally got it right? Let's see: Callaway C4 (2002) ERC Fusion, FT-3, FT-5, FT-9, FT-IQ, FT-Tour, FT-IZ, Razr Hawk, and then after this I think they started to get it "right" with the Razr X Black and RAZR Fit series (2012).

Some of the drivers mentioned above were IMO awesome drivers! They sure did crack a lot, especially the early models. Let's hope it doesn't take ten years for TM to figure it out!
I'm still worried about my FT-9 Tour taking a dive. I was so tempted to pick up a spare head when i saw on sale last month *knocks on wood*

should say *knocks on carbon fiber*

"
Hard to explain, but it is something you can see for sure but cannot pick up with a camera."

This. As hard as I try, I can't seem to get my camera to focus on it in the right light. That being said, mine is pretty minimal right now and in no way effects the way the club plays. Just want to be aware of how TM is handling this in case it spider webs on me.

Just bought the M1 and this is what the top looks like after 3 rounds. The crack starts in the white titanium and actually runs partly through the carbon composite piece. TaylorMade is sending a replacement right away, but I'm certainly concerned about the lifespan of this driver. We'll see.

Yikes!  That looks terrible.

Does anyone know if you can just call Taylormade up if this happens, or do you have to go through a certified retailer?

Seeing the pic of the M1 cracked crown is likely to raise the question in some minds as to whether or not the marriage of carbon composite and titanium has been fully perfected by TaylorMade.  Then again, this could simply be just a one-in-a- million fluke.

Should we see should see more pics or reports of crown cracking like this in the future, TM could have a real problem on their hands.  The paint peeling issues have been reported for quite sometime now and appear to be fairly common. That lesser problem alone is bad enough to cause some hesitation among prospective M1/M2 buyers.

While I have no doubt that TM will address BOTH issues properly via their warranty program, such reports of questionable quality on their highly promoted, most expensive driver could still do some very significant damage to their reputation.

I ordered online through TaylorMade so I just had to call the support line. They asked a couple questions and put a replacement in the mail....the cracked driver needs to be mailed back within 30 days of receiving the replacement.

Here's another angle with the face - http://goo.gl/siQ34U

The face is actually fine, but the crack will only get worse.

Hi, I've got a hairline "ridge" in or on the white laminate that runs parallel to the black on the crown (almost full length of crown heel to toe). Now I've only hit 10 balls but my question is will this ridge develop a crack. Should I be worried cuz really it is not noticeable except in certain light but definitely there. I really don't care personally but if it develops a crack I'll be more than worried. Anybody with the same issue could you chime in on as it is something to worry about or not. Thanx.

The line on the clear coat on mine is all the way across the crown now and is clearly visible at address in sunlight. Mine also has the ridge. I've only played two rounds with it and it's never been to the range.

I suspect there are a lot of these out there, it is so hard to see; like you said it has to be in the sunlight. I put my glasses on tonight and held it under a lamp to show my wife and had a heck of a time finding it but when you see it it is there. I'm going to chance it and go with it and see what happens. But for a club that has a pretty steep asking price this is kind of unforgiveable. But other than the low percentage over all of buyers that happen to be on this list I'd be willing to bet there are a whole lot of guys out there off list with the same issue and not even aware of it or figure that is just the normal paint job. Just hoping it don't crack because those pics posted are pretty gruesome.

Just bought this from the classifieds and I didn't notice it until I brought it out in the sun... So sad. Im calling TM to get it replaced Monday. Has anyone had issues if they bought theirs second hand or if you aren't the original owner? Tell me your experience with TM's warranty. Thanks in advance.

My M2 had a ridge in the area that you have a crack. Must be where the two materials meet. I went into the shop the other day and noticed the clubs in the rack have the same ridge. My guess is the two pieces are moving slightly causing the paint to crack. Hopefully they take cater of you. Warranty should follow the club if it's sold second hand.

Does that type of crack affect playability? Just curious as if I receive another one and it happens again.

I just noticed that my M1 also developed the "ridge" in the paint in the white portion of the crown most noticeably towards the heel but runs full length across the crown to the toe of the club.

At the toe of the club there is a noticeable bulge that is present when you run your finger over the area.

I bought mine brand new off of Ebay from a reputable dealer and i took it into my local golfsmith and they told me they would send it back to Taylormade for me and get a replacement sent back. I'll be taking it back in on Monday (need it this weekend) and I'll update when I get my replacement back.

Picked my M1 up yesterday, hit a few balls in the sim while at the store and have a line in mine.  Hit outdoors today with it, but the line didn't grow more out towards the toe.  But runs along the ridge about 1/3 of the way across the crown.  Waited 2 weeks for that custom order, waiting already 3 weeks on my M2 and that's still a couple weeks away, awesome...

First it was the ridge that I noticed last weekend....now I see a line very much like the one pictured but not a true crack....not yet!

Got my M1 15° 3W from TMAG last night. Haven't even hit it yet and it has the paint ridge from heel to toe. Wondering if I just live with it or try to deal with exchange process?
