Using carbon fiber to redistribute the weight in a driver is old technology.  As mentioned above, it has challenges related to durability and fusion between the carbon and non-carbon sections of the driver.  I had a driver with a carbon crown years ago and it eventually cracked.  I'm surprised TM decided to develop this driver. The marketing dept must be running out of ideas. It may perform quite well, but probably only for a limited period of time.  It will have a short run like many TM drivers and they will move on to something else.  That's my opinion.

This happened to mine today after 2 rounds.  Called TM and they are having me send it in to look at and send me a new head.

As with the Ping lamination issues, there is no excuse for this. One would think products would be extensively tested before they are released. If people are having issues after a few dozen swings or so, one can only surmise that either, a) TM was aware of the problem, but decided to release the product anyway, or b) did not do enough testing.

Didn't see any finish issues on the 460 10.5, 460 8.5, and 430 8.5

Just warranty the darn clubs they are tools and meant to be used and beat on. Maybe if it were 299 I would try one.

Update on my M1.  TM called me yesterday and told me it is not a structural issue but it is a clearcoat issue.  They will be sending it back to me until the next batch of 10.5 heads come in then they will send me a new one. .

I'm glad they are replacing this driver for you, I'm no expert in driver construction but to my eye that looks nothing like a clearcoat issue. Nor do any of the other seam issues we have seen in photos. I would like to put one of these in play but I'm going to wait until next season hopefully by then these "clearcoat" issues are over. BB

Hit maybe 6 balls with mine and noticed the same seem in the white paint i called tm and he said he didnt know of any issues but wanted this websites info so he could check it out

Is it just me or does the geometry of the crown look different.  Most drivers the face is more in line with the top with a slight curve from the top of the crown to the face.  On this driver the crown curves down to the face in an exaggerated way.  Maybe style points got in the way of function.

Cobra has been making carbon fiber crowned drivers for a while now.  Do they have these problems?

This is their first crack at carbon fiber, they will figure it out. Cobra, Callaway had issues early too. As long as they take care of their customers and replace clubs with problems it's all good by me.

For me I still think the all time best carbon fiber driver is the FT-9 Tour Authentic. I just refreshed mine with a spa day and new Oban and I'm LOVING it, the feel is amazing. In regards to durability this model had seam issues too. My guess it's the nature of the beast when you combine exotic materials. BB

Unreal...the M1 cracks, and I keep reading about lots of GWRX-ers stuffing yarn or cotton into the Ping G30 head to get the sound right???  We should boycott these releases until the manufacturers get it right.

I still love my FT-9 Tour driver to death but i can't keep the ball down since i can't go lower than 8.5
M1 at 6.5 is still flying high but there is a forward motion at descent which equated to more distance in carry and roll

I did crack my FT5 (reason I got the FT9)..

To be fair, unbias and equitable I'm sending my BB 816 DBD back for a strange bulge. Cosmetic or not (don't think it is sadly) it's unacceptable and I sincerely hope Callaway will replace it. BB

Ouch! That's an ugly one, sucks. Follow up to my 816 DBD issue Callaway was fantastic and promptly remedied the problem. On a positive note the traffic in this thread isn't outrageous hopefully the issues aren't wide spread. BB
