Sam was like Bluto from Animal House this weekend. He had some crazy game going on and bagged the hottest stripper I've ever seen! He got up and down from everywhere on Cypresswood Tradition and even hit a duck.
Kyle was killing the driver the driver all weekend. He was one of only three guys to play all 63 holes this weekend.
Glynn is one of the coolest guys of all time. He's like the cool father that would buy you beer and take you to the cathouse to "make you a man." Plus, he was hitting bombs with his Ping/Accra combo.
Drew lived up to his legendary status. His G10/Whiteboard was the only thing longer than BKM.
Patrick was playing well, but needs to keep his eyes off of Keith's package.
Dave made it out for Sunday's round along with Milburn. Glad to catch up with both of them. I met John on Thursday at St. James. Such a wonderful place!
Derek proved his point that the two iron isn't dead...yet. He actually saved his team some money on one hole. Sam just wants to see him do well.
Keith is a King among men. A bearded GOD with a heart of gold. I look forward to getting him and the rest of these guys up to St. Louis for some golf in the future.
I need to learn to putt on Bermuda. Tee to green, I was okay. The greens embarassed me. I haven't had such a bad showing since I puked on the fender of an SUV at the Rareguitar outing.
I can't say enough about the hospitality that shown to me by the Houston group. I was treated like family and these guys are like brothers to me now. I look forward to another visit in the future.
Here is Sam's prized posession:

Wish I would have had a chance to get down there to meet you, Tony. The Houston boys said you're good peeps. Congrats on the twins!
I was hoping to get down to your area, but time didn't permit it. I was going to check out a few lawns...
Based on the hospitality I received from the H-Town gang, I'll be back soon enough.

Based on how much fun everyone had, I can almost assure a 2008 outttttttttting, even if we don't get permission from Pepe. Everyone I've spoken to that comes into Houston for golf is always amazed by the hospitality shown to them and what a great bunch of guys the Houston group is.
Next time, I'll caravan with the Old Guy and Okorie. We may not spend as much time doing the evening activities, but the golf will be outstanding!

Southwyck is a links course off of Hwy 288 and not bad. It has got better the last few years. You can usually expect quite a bit of wind. It is worth a round. You could also go 10-15 mins. up the road and play Wildcat. They have two 18 hole courses. I personally like the Lakes better but that is just my $.02

Wildcat is a ripoff for the $78 weekend green fee they charge. Also, if it is crowded, you will end up with a 5hr round of golf.
THE best value for the price is Memorial Park, hands down. Southwyck is definitely a test when its windy, no doubt...

As someone who plays all of these courses:
1. Southwyck frequently runs $19-24 specials. Like every week. As such, they get very busy, very fast. And, you get some strange playing companions out there. Southwyck is one step above a muni.
2. Wildcat is a ripoff for the price they charge on weekends. You can get coupons for weekday golf for around $45 which is tolerable, and well worth it. Wildcat has memberships, a real clubhouse/locker room, and is a bit of a nicer place to play all around
3. Memorial you can only get tee times by lottery (that I know of), and the last time we played there it was terribly slow. Getting to and from the course is a big pain, and there isn't enough parking. You have to wait in line to get a driving range stall on weekends. It's a nice course, and the greens are pretty fast.
