This is going to depend a great deal on where you live and also what sort of course you play on, but for me I love playing at this time of year in the UK. I'm a member at a great heathland course in Dorset and this time of year, autumn here, it's fantastic for golf. The course is still in great condition from the summer and this week I have really enjoyed the challenge of the weather as well, it's been relativley breezey and since its significantly colder than the summer the ball doesn't travel as far but we're still playing from summer tees, again adding a fun challenge. Scoring of course has not been as easy as the summer months but over the last few rounds but I have really appreciated playing golf in a place where the challenge of the game changes in such a fun way with the seasons. That's for now anyway, in a little over a month i'll be posting to complain that the course is frosted over, we're on temporary greens, you can't feel your fingers by the 5th, it's impossible to get a tee time on a weekend becasue of the short day light hours, and when you do play is even slower than normal and you can't get in a full round. Until then lets see when you like playing golf where you are.

My favorite climate for golf is during the summer, around 80 degrees. The muscles are loose and limber and the ball flies far. But second to that would be late fall/early winter here in the mid-Atlantic, those 50 degree days, before the first snow has fallen - I like this time of year because of fewer people on the course. Cold weather tends to keep most of the casual golfers away so I'm really looking forward to some faster pace of play in the next couple of months.

I know some hate a "crummy" day, but my favorite weather to play golf in is slightly cool (high 50's, low 60's) overcast, with a gentle breeze. So normally fall or early winter.

Fall in Texas is nice...
I agree with this!!
But we usually have a week during december/january/sometimes febuary and march/ april and sometimes may that match these numbers, then we have to tough it out June through Sept. Nothing like playing 12 months a year. I remember playing in short sleeves on new years eve this past year. The best thing about Texas is you can usually play at least 1-2 days in a one week period whether it be snow one day and golf 3-4 days later.
As long as there is no snow or ice on the ground I'm in. I don't mind the heat or cold as long as I don't have to have so many layers on I can't swing or am sweating so much I can't hold on to the club.
My favorite season and time to play golf is late in the evening on a beautiful, crisp fall day. Tree-lined courses on the east coast of the US are unbelievably beautiful as the trees change, the air gets slightly dry and clear, and all of the summertime crowds are preoccupied with other things. I can get out on a Sunday afternoon/evening on my local course and be the only guy within sight or sound...deer running through the forest, hawks hunting the crazy squirrels, just beautiful. The golf is fun too, cause the course is usually in its best shape around this time too with soft fast greens and lush fairways.
My favorite time of year is early Fall here in Northeast Ohio. The temps range anywhere from low 50s all the way to high 60s on occasion. I like to be able to wear pants and a golf shirt and still be comfortable. The only downer is missing fairways and losing balls to leaf piles!
I like the climate of fall golf, but trying to find the ball in the leaves can be difficult coupled with the sun angle can make for a tough day on the course.
Middle of the summer, hot humid long days of the Florida summer, i was raised in this stuff and love it. I grew up with friends walking 27 to 36 holes in this heat and while i have been sent into the golf cart due to the "resort" setup of most olrando courses its still great to play in the heat.
