I really hope someone doesn't over react and put safety fences around all water hazards on golf courses.

Wow, that really really sucks.

(Yes, I realize that is a vast understatement, but I couldn't think of anything more profound to say at the moment.)

The only thing I can guess is that the poor fella hit his ball left into the pond, while his son and other playing partner hit it right, over the mounds seperating 14 from 10. I'm guessing when he went to look for his ball, he slipped and hit his head on the rocks. The guys being on the other side of the mounds is the only reason I can think that they would not have seen him go in.

Sad story.

Condolensces to his family.

A question for those who live around the area:

Was it raining the day of, or the day prior, to the man's accident?

From the article, I implied that he was walking the course. Was it hot that day? I'm assuming if the man did walk, 14 holes of golf can tire a 70 year old man.

I played in Portland on Sunday (about 45 minutes from where this took place). It was 60 degrees and overcast during the day. It has been raining hard all week and that night.

I just heard about this on the course today! I thought the guy was just yanking my chain.

It's eerie that it happened around here though... wish it didn't at all.

Yeah I can see golf being pretty boring by the time the legal fraternity get hold of this, no water hazards, bunkers could be treacherous if you drove your cart into them, trees would be under review as they fall down occasionally or shed branches, clubs are lightening conductors........

Deep rough is full of tripping hazards....

Seriously though, thats a shame to say the least. Thoughts go out to the family.
