I searched for this topic, I swear I did.  If it is a duplicate my sincerest apologies.

Last week my pals and I were able to play a few holes before league t time.  We started talking about our golf swings and what we do where in the swing.  I told them talking about your swing before playing was golf suicide and sure enough my two pals had the worst round of the year.  Lucky for me, I did not because I have the uncanny ability to eff things up on my own... I mean block things out.  I would consider this a superstition.  It is not like we were trying to change our swings, just discussing them.

As golfers we all have superstitions.  What are yours and why?

I never play a round of golf that my clubs havent been cleaned and wiped down before hand. I only use the white painted tees. I swing a G25 driver and I like the feedback I get from the marks the tees leave on the face and underside of the driver. Lets me know where on the face Im hitting the ball and sometimes leaves a trail mark on the bottom hopefully going straight back.

I never ever want to know where I sit in a round until it's over; even if I'm keeping score I do my best to forget (block) anything I've just done.   This is far more important when I am playing well; again i'm a mental midget.

First time I ever shot par, I didn't know until I was on beer #3 in the clubhouse.

I used to freak out anytime someone said "shank" (98% chance I would hit one shortly).   I got past this one after I realized nobody that I know that says "shank" even knows what a true hosel rocket is (I do:)).

-Club must be wiped down after ever shot and put in proper place
-same pre-shot routine before every shot and putt
-ball has to be marked the same way every round
-have tees marker and divot tool in right pocket
-glove in right back pocket

more routines than superstitions!

I have to have two orange tees and 4 quarters in my left pocket.

I swear it throws my balance off if I don't.

Plus if you use a pink tee you will hit it in the woods every time.

I DESPISE pink.

I'm glad you brought this up, because I couldn't think of any superstitions that I have.

For me, I have to use either a Washington State quarter, Oregon quarter, or a Swiss Franc. If I have a good putting round with one coin, I'll keep using it until I have a bad putting round. The Swiss Franc has been good to me lately :dntknw:

Routine or superstition? They are getting blended here ^^^\
Routine is ball mark left pocket cause I have to take my glove off to get to it and I never put with a glove.
Tees in right pocket cause I don't have to take my glove off to get to it.

Superstitions are: Only pink Tees I swipe from my daughters bag for driver. (pink punk'n tees) Don't ask, don't care, it works.
Never ever ever ever keep a spare ball in my pocket. If you have it you'll have to use it.
Always use a busted dropped Tee on iron shots from the box.
#1 rule (superstition) never brag on your game.  ANY PART OF YOUR GAME.

Use the same ball marker and divot tool every round. Only use natural tees. I like Stinger tees or the Pro-Length ones. I also always use a new tee on par 3s. Really I just hate white or colorful tees lol.

Always use NFA challenge coin as marker.

Always start with ball I putted the best with on practice green.

Always change ball out after a bad hole. (if not lost that is)

Almost always use #3 balls.

Always finish range session with a good shot - which almost always means leaving some of the range balls unhit.

Always finish chipping and putting warm-up session with good shot.

Almost always finish range session with LW.

I can never swing with a "backup" ball in my pocket... It means I have the expectation of losing it. If I happen to have one for whatever reason, or pocket my provisional, I have to toss it out right before I hit my shot.  I dunno it's weird I think I'm gonna sabotage myself or something

If I happen to see a red, orange, or green tee on tee box I have to use it. I will swap a tee out if I catch sight of one out of the corner of my eye. White, blue, yellow or pink never use.  I do not look for tees but if I see one of those colors if I don't pick it up and use it immediately, I think it is bad luck for me. I know it is stupid but I can't not do it.

I have to have a green dot on the side of my ball for a marking.  I vaguely remember when I started doing it, but I always have a green Sharpie at the ready.
