I play with Josh in a money game every Monday and he is one of the nicest guy that you'll ever meet, he won't tell me who wins, but hats off to the kid because I didn't think he would make it this far. But it does feel pretty good taking his money. Good Luck JW21

What's up with the golf channel commercials talking about the art of the hustle where they show Josh smiling and Brian all mad? They have to be trying to throw the viewer off.

Assuming you saved me from a spoiler, THANKS! :clapping:

I just watched the first hole and I absolutely cannot believe how crappy the green was. Did you notice how much Josh's put bounced before going in?!?

Josh just gave a 5 to 6 footer to BK with a bad mind set to win the hole when he had a par putt and was already down 2, I dont get it? :black eye:
One of the worst jusdgement calls in match play with this much on the line I have ever seen. :black eye:

BK is -5 after 8. He may be the best, or second best (Two Gloves) player in Big Break history.

Thanks again! Given that I don't want to ruin anyone else's surprise either I've masked my comments. The one thing I will say is that I was surprised by how classy I thought Kontak handled himself in the epidode. He never once bashed Josh even when it appeared as if he might have been baited. All I can say is that he appeared to have been justified by razzing A-Rod and his comments about Gerry James must have been provoked by something. Perhaps it was as little as being ticked off about him making it as far as he did given how many bad shots he made time after time. It's funny that when I first saw the show where he kept bashing James I found it really offensive, but upon seing the rerun a week or two later I could sort of see where he was coming from given his smartass personality.

As for the results . . .

I can't believe how badly Josh blew the final. It had to be tough for the producers given how far back he got so quickly. If you had any doubts after the front 9 they certainly disappeared by the time they got to the 14th hole with only 5 minutes left in the show.

I really enjoyed the series and hope they have a simliar calibre lineup again soon.

Kind of disappointed when Hiroshi went down in the semifinal. He would have been a good match for BK. Credit goes to Josh for going this far, he's got game, just need to focus more. BK deserves it.

Until next time guys!

Either way the Brian can play.. he once shot a 58 at a local event in AZ. ( yes it was covered in golf digest)
I dont know why he hasnt made it on tour yet but his resume includes
Rookie of the year on hooters tour
Three wins in a row on the canadian tour total of 4 wins that year
order of merit champ
2 national championships at Scottsdale Community college
JR wold champ.
And many many differnet wins on many other tours
-5 after 8 is good on any course i dont care how short it is.

More like 3 under through 8 holes...he hit a 8I and 9I into the par 5's ...so that not really a great feat. Dont get me wrong, he can play..but him being such a tool the whole show had me pulling againdt him. Too bad it was so one sided for the finale.

Josh didn't pull it out. He handed it to Brian. Too bad as it would have been nicer to have something closer than that, but that's golf.

I kind of understand what you are saying but the card still says its a par 5 plus at one time he was 7 under through 12 or 13.

There are a million guys out there with great swings and big games that can't get it done under pressure. This Big Break has identified a couple more.

this could be the best, most accurate post in this whole thread.... I always ask myself about the gap between being good and great- and it is a lot wider than you think... this show proves it- and that gap only widens depending on the venue and circumstances.

There is no doubt that a D lister on the PGA tour would mop these guys up, but then again, it is a TV show and certainly fulfills the entertainment quotient..

I just can't see Josh's swing holding up under pressure. Brian is a much better player right now, but I take my hat off to Josh. He is a real grinder. Really enjoyed this big break. Good luck to Brian K.

my favorites did not make it to the end...I liked Hiroshi, Benoit, and Kevin.....with Brian would have been a great final four I think.

Gerry was an a**...all his great shots were due to skill and all his poor shots were mental errors...he would never say he just hit a bad shot and screwed up...but was eager to give that label to the others. I would have been poking him too as it obviously bothered him...LOL

BTW, sorta off topic, but related, I did not see any of the previous Big Break seasons except for when I caught a few of the "Ladies Only" with Pam and the blonde who bailed on the LPGA. After Big Break has been Golf With Style Global Challenge. While the shows idea is stupid (not enough competition) it shows off the locations they go to which is the real point of the show. But I had never seen Karyn Stordahl-Utecht when she was on the Big Break and she was on Golf With Style and man, she is a cutie! I would love to have her caddie for me as she did for one of the guys last night!

Brian K mopped Josh up pretty good in that show. He tore that track up. 8I.....2I.....his I's were getting it done. When he said "8I" and looked dead in the camera, did he think that was cool?? Just curious. He also got it up and down from everywhere. That did not hurt his cause. He was just more polished under tournament conditions than Josh was. His ballstriking looked impressive, as did his putting. Good player.

Did anyone notice the bunker comment....something like it was not that hard of a shot, and with his abilities..(long pause) I would have expected for him to hit inside 10 feet.....to me that sounded like a small diss. Maybe I am reading into it to much. Just struck me as odd.

Josh might have the best attitude I have ever seen. That guy was so positive and just seems like a real good dude. I wish him the best in his golfing career....I wish I had his attitude when I was playing competitively, might have helped me that is for sure.

Best season for the guys so far. Competition was great. Maybe they should incorporate some golf in some of the challenges to get rid of some of the guys that are hanging on hitting flops or whatnot. Maybe like a combo of the fun games, and then have the eliminations be a hole or two of golf and a game. Something like that. Switch it up a little bit.

Also sidenote* Becky Lucidi from the ladies big break got her LPGA tour card this year. Pretty good stuff.

I like BK, tells it like he sees it, doesn't make excuses and backs it up with the sticks. I can see our it rubs people the wrong way (and it mostly does because he's right) but I like his style.

Congrats to him, well done.

Wanted Josh to win. Just liked the guy better.

But BK definately played better throughout the show. Congrats.

The "I" comments really got on my nerves after the 2nd or 3rd use. Not sure why, but it was like Quint's nails on the chalkboard.

I think the camera guy may have asked him which club he was playing.

As much as I wanted Josh to win, BK clearly had the more solid game when it came down to "straight up golf holes" (as BK put it).

No worries. I have similar pipe dreams about numerous female golfers, and one in particular.

(Although, right now, I would be happy if customer service would just answer the phone so I wouldn't have to listen to this awful 'elevator/hold music' which frequently interrupted by the same "your call is important to us" and "have you tried our website" recorded messages.)

I don't really see what everyone has a problem with BK, he seems a little rude, but there are much worse guys out there. I think it wasn't much of a golf course for any good player, I mean a pitching wedge into a par 5? There is NO way that's going to happen when he's playing with the big boys out on the real time Tour. But I give credit to him.

As far as Josh, wow, I wish I could have an attitude like that. I think he'll get somewhere. He's still VERY young, and with a great attitude and a stellar short game, I believe he will get somewhere in this game. He just needs some experience playing some mini-tours, qualifiers, ect. I think this doesn't bother him in the LEAST, and he hit some clutch shots under some extreme pressure. Hats off to him (or visors).

**CHOKE**

Man, that was hard to watch. I was pulling for Josh, but he didn't look good right out of the gate. How many times is he going to airmail one over the green and say, "Gosh, I really pured that one..."? I mean his distance control over the last few shows has been terrible.

I too would have like to have seen a stronger competition for the finale. Something tells me Hiroshi would have put up more of a fight.

I agree 100%.

Like him or not (the latter for ME) the right guy (between the two) won last night.
Hiroshi vs. BK would have been a great final.

Hiroshi was the best player this season, hands down.

I was pulling for Josh, because I thought BK was pretty arrogant, but he backed it up and deserved to win.

Can someone tell me how James Nitties went. I know that he didn't win but would just be interested to know at what stage he dropped out.

Relatively early. He pretty much flamed out on a 3-hole playoff elimination. It was clear that he was struggling with his swing toward the end (developed a pretty hideous over the top hitch) and just wasn't hitting good shots in the clutch.

That final was painful to watch. Listening to Josh say to himself "just do what you do..." and then proceed to hit bad after bad shots drove me up the wall!! No where in that round did he actually demonstrate his so called ability. I agree there's a huge difference due to the pressure, but I was pulling for Hiroshi the entire show....HE could have gotten it done WITH the pressure.

I like BK though....and don;t find him rude whatsoever....He's truthful and I respect that. If he offended anyone they just need thicker skins. Congrats BK.

He didn't, though. He buckled under pressure just like so many other people have. It's not a knock on him, of course... I definitely think he was one of the better players, but he was eliminated in stroke play, you know? It's not like hewas sent home because he couldn't hit a flop shot over a wall. He made it to the serious stuff, and he got beat.

I would like to know also. That seemed super short. I wish they had given those guys a real hard test and not a course with driver wedge par 5's. I also only remember 1 par 4 over 410.

It seemed super short because it was!

The course is called The Oasis Golf Club.

Par 71
Black 71.7 133
6633 yards from the tips.

Hole/yardage:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Out
Black 349 223 436 373 540 393 162 541 183 3200

Hole 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 In Total
Black 296 446 549 391 402 396 187 374 392 3433 6633

So it's playing 6633 yards, with half a mile up in elevation.
