I am a sucker for females that sing from the heart and you can almost feel their soul.  Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin, Heather Nova, Tori Amos, Norah Jones, Bjork.

Bjork's Pagan Poetry is her masterpiece:

Awesome Richard.  I'm a huge Tupac (RIP) fan.  If I had to have just one rap CD, it would be Thug Life, Volume 1.  Hands down.  Under Pressure, Bury Me a G, Don't Get It Twisted are all great tunes.  I cannot find any clean youtube versions.

Yea D, I was lookin for Hands Down and Bury Me a G "Clean" and couldn't locate em. The nice thing on the other board was that you could post the "dirty" versions so I'd never even looked for the "clean" versions, lol.

Oh, you have very good taste in music, BTW, lol :)

Have a great day Bro :)

Sinatra reminded me of Sammy Davis Jr. and of my favourite songs of his but I'm not putting Sammy on now. What a powerful song and a performance. Even a bit of that will, enthusiasm and optimism would take us far.

I offer something a little different. Not really a music video but it has music.  Not really a video, but it kinda is.  An exercise in time-lapse photography, very well done I might add. Shot primarily in the U.P of Michigan.

This group, Sister Hazel, is one of my favorite from the past 10-15 years, and this song, has been my Anthem, lol.

Life always seemed to get in the way. Then the big C hit me, not once, not twice, slid past three and stopped at four, haha.

Four bouts in 7 years.

However the one good thing is that I'm still here, however after round two, because I considered the first bout a fluke, sorta like I considered a double bogie, then boom, less than 8 months later bout three, and I accepted that I'm fallible. I'm not invincible. I'm not kidding. I felt that I was invincible. That's a joke, haha. I've cried more in the last two years than I did in the previous 53.

But thanks to my family, my close circle, you Guys & Gals here on the board and that Amazing Woman in my avatar, my head's in a good place. I'm still in the tunnel but I can see the light~

Don't make the mistake that I did~

Don't let Life get in the way!!!!

To all of you Gals & Guys who have made me smile and laugh when I was in the tunnel with no light in sight, Thank You & God Bless!!!

You're the Best :)

Fairways & Greens My Friends,
Richard

A little back story, lol......

I first heard this song back in '84, a couple of weeks before I was to graduate college. I was at a party, GF by my side and feeling no pain when it played. I loved the melody though it was the words that really caught my attention. As it was my Fraternity house, I had them play it again and I subsequently bought the album the next week.

Ya see, my college world, and really my whole life up to that point had consisted of two totally different worlds, my football world, with those teammates, friends and in my mind, my closest were like Brothers, and my "normal" world, lmao, consisting of a totally different set of friends, and again, a few I Loved like a Brother.

I never had a problem going from from one world to the other, and I was always "myself," it's just that as with most people, I had at least two very different and distinct personalities, though my dress was the same in both worlds, lol, jeans, a button down and cowboy boots, lol.

When we went out, my black roomies/teammates found my dress amusing compared to theirs, though it didn't affect me and it never seemed to bother the ladies, haha :)

And so it was the Saturday evening before our graduation the next day that, for the first time in my life, I gathered my very best friends from my two worlds and put em all in the same room, lol.

I had said nothing to any of them, other than I was tappin a keg(one of 3, lol) at 7:00pm, it was to be just these 7 guys that I had invited untill 9:00, when we'd open it up as our house was on the way "uptown" and my Fraternity house was a few blocks over, well, we never had a problem of peeps showin up, lmao. As humbly as I can state this, our parties were the stuff of Legends, lol, for both Males and Females, lol. We never had problems either, lol. Great times were had by all.

So, after I made the intros and though a few knew each other, like my former roomie/Fraternity Bro was a Varsity Golfer so he worked out in a few weight/machine rooms that we did so he knew ADog, Pills and Pylesy-

I've spoken of all three before though ADog was Alvin Hall, a CB who would go on to play on Sundays, and as I have mentioned, he was a Blood from Dayton via Detroit, Pills being Brian Pillman, who would also go on to play on Sundays though he acquired more notoriety as "Flyin Brian" in the WWF/WWE and Dave Pyles, all 6'5" 290lbs of him, who also would cash a Sunday paycheck-

So, everything was great and we were telling war stories, and both "sides" loved hearing stories of the other's escapades though I have to tell ya that my non-football escapades were much much much more genteel than those with my teammates, lol

It was what it was, hahaha

Two verrrrrrrrrry different worlds, lmao.

So at about 8:45, my GF showed up with some if her Sorority Sis's and I told em to grab glasses and just to hang on the front porch and we'd be out shortly.

I made one last toast and it was to Best Friends, Best Memories and God's Grace as we moved forward and to never ever forget each other or the Bonds that we had forged with each other

I put this song on~

Well, when we toasted glasses, and I said pretty much what I typed above and when I finished and looked around the circle, there wasn't a dry eye amongst us.

Looking back it was kinda funny, and I'll never forget ADog, who showed up as a Frosh a hardened criminal(his words), racist(my words) and an all-around nasty Gent, and Billy, the blonde haired blue eyed country club Player, and both had their arms around the other's shoulders with tears in their eyes, laughing and enjoying each other's company.

Anyhoo, this is the song, and the words are what hooked me-

Though the Byrds took it to #1, this is Bob Dylan's song and this video is like a Who's Who of the Music Hall of Fame with Roger McGuinn(The Byrds), Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Neil Young & George Harrison-

Sorry to ramble however I'm just doing a lot of reminiscing lately and I just wanted to drop this in :)

Some of my favorites:

Tool - Prison Sex

Tool - Schism

Tool - Parabol/Parabola

Slipknot - The Devil in I

Slipknot - Snuff
https://www.youtube....h?v=LXEKuttVRIo

Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver
https://www.youtube....h?v=NR7dG_m3MsI

Some quick rationale, I love Tool.  The music is awesome all the way around and the videos are are always very artistic in an unsettling kind of way.  There's something about how the stop motion animation is done that makes the music even more dark and brooding than it is on its own.  They execute the whole supplementing the audio with visual thing VERY well.

Slipknot I've always dug since I first came across them as a wee one in high school back in the early 00's.  I was always a metal head and bands like Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Mushroom head brought a theatric element to the music (which is well written, played, recorded, and produced) in the same way that Kiss and GWAR did years ago, but they put a different, more modern spin on it.

I'm kind of hot and cold with Killswitch Engage, but I've been a huge fan of Ronnie James Dio, whether with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, or in his solo career for as long as I can remember.  I love how Killswitch Engage covered Holy Diver and put their own modern metal spin on Holy Diver while keeping the song instantly recognizable.  I also get a total kick out of watching the video.

This song has been playing in my head for a couple of days now, maybe it'll move on to someone else's head through this thread! :D

Edit: I'm not sure if it's HOF material though, so I'll add something else to this post soon. :)

Well, here's a classic about a man down on his luck:
