81 with 5 birdies.  Yes, that's right.  2 quads and 2 triples, all originated by ugly double crossed drives, 3 on the front and 1 on the back.

I hate myself today

Managed to squeeze 9 in last night. Shot +4 with 2 birdies. Feeling a low round, sub-80 coming soon. Just need to persist and keep playing good golf. Improved so much already this year.

Left work yesterday to play 18 as U.S. Open qualifier is approaching and I hit it great and still can't putt

12-14 fairways
12-18 greens

4 bogeys
3 birdies
1 over par 72

And missed 4 putts inside 8 feet so aggravating . My birdie putts were 2 feet - 20 feet and 25 feet . Maybe I shud try not hitting it to close to the hole lol

When I read this thread, I'm constantly reminded  how badly I suck at this game.

I played 9 the other morning and shot 43 (+9).  7 bogeys or worse to start, 2 pars to end.

Nope... most golfers apparently never break 100 let alone 90 if studies are to be believed. This site has a LOT of really good golfers on it as they are attracted to sites like this. Even with my 4 index, I am not what you would consider "consistent" and really only seem to play well on challenging courses. It's a mental thing for me... if the course is too open and easy (local muni courses) my brain shuts down and I shoot horrible numbers. When the course tightens up (RTJ Trail in Alabama, TPC courses, Pinehurst #2, etc) I seem to turn my brain on and play well.

Hoping to get out this next week if I can and play again, but first there is possibly a job to accept (FINALLY!) and then I can celebrate with some golf. Of course, since it actually rained here the past couple of days there might even be some green grass to play off of here in SoCal. :)

Played 36 yesterday. first 18 shot an 87 (too many 3 and 4 putts). walking off that 18, ran into a bud and decided to loop it. Played the first half one over and the second five over to finally break 80. came in with a 78. Was sooooo sweet. putting helps.
I felt really good about that shot....
Until I hit it.

Played a track I normally destroy. Today not so much. Two birdies, a double and a not so great 77. Can't be too upset as I played to my index my last two tournament rounds.

Shot a nice 75 today on a par 71 course. i was only 1 over through 12 then ran out of gas a bit I guess. One of those days where everything seem to be working good and consistent. 14 pars and 4 bogeys. Had a few looks a birdies from inside of 10 feet but just could not get one to fall.

I was solid (for me) on the front with a 41 then reality hit on the back with a 53 for a still okay (for me) 94.  My wife beat her personal best by 7 strokes with a fine score of 100.  So close to the 90's for her...maybe her next round will be the one!

Chalked a dissapointing 95 yesterday at highlands of donegal. Putting is horrible. Knocked a approach from 155 to a foot and pushed my birdie to the right... things like that can really suck the air out the sails in a hurry. Guess I gota face the music and except that I'm a 90s shooter lol

Played a scramble charity tourney at Rio Hondo in Downey today. We tore it up with a -15 56 and won by two. Good team with two 4's a 9 and 15 index. Great day with most approach shots no more than an 8 iron or less. I somehow won the only long drive. We won a BUNCH of cool gift cards.
Fun day for a good cause. Good grub too.

well getting ready to head to NJ for my daughters graduation.  Last couple of weeks has been really stupid odd.

I end up playing good on one side or poorly and then recover over the last 4 or so holes.

Case in point:   Played 4 over on the front nine with a dbl and 3 three putt bogeys after starting with a bird on the first hole.   Then off the back I three putt 10 & 11 and shoot 2 under the rest of the way in.  Overall good score, heck of a lot better score if I am not three jacking all over the course.   Hit one par 5 (538 yds) in two and had an eagle putt from 16 foot, left it dead center 3 inches short of the hole, oh the heartbreak!

As of late I have been making birdie on 3 of the last 5 holes going in, it is nice but you should not have to count on that type of performance to have a good round.

76 on the day.  Shot 77 on Saturday, 3 dbls on the day and a 75 on Sunday.  Consistent scores but all the same senario, just playing stupid at times.

Only got to play nine yesterday (16 month old at home and a wife in Residency makes it hard to find the time to play 18) and I shot 36 on a par 35.  3 bogeys and 2 birdies.

Started out with a solid par on an uphill par five (fairway/green in three) and then was terrible off the tee for the next three holes but managed to scramble for a bogey.  Then the last five holes I didn't miss a fairway or a green.  Three pars (including a 15-footer to save par) then back-to-back birdies to finish.  Never driven the ball better and my putting is coming around.  I went to the range a week or so ago and found something in my swing.  Breaking 80 on this same track is my goal for the summer.

Played a new course on Tuesday, over 7,000 yards, 72.9/128.  An easy 76 with two doubles from badly buried lies in the bunkers. Swing felt so good.

Home course on Wednesday. Felt like I'd never held the club before. 84, 35 putts (on relatively simple greens).

Tuesday: Shot 85 from the tips at a pretty easy country club in town (Green Tree CC, 6590 yds, 70.5/117, Par 71). Started off good, then chunked a 8 iron into a pond on a short par 3. Took double, then rode the bogey train until 13. (threw in an 9 on the Par 5 10th...ouch). Finished with a birdie on 18 after throwing one in from the greenside bunker.

Yesterday: Played the muni in Odessa (Ratliff Ranch). Had a foursome 3 groups ahead playing a scramble and really grinding it out...held up the whole course. Played the front 9 in 2.5 hrs as a single, with two twosomes and a foursome ahead of me, no one could play through. Turned 9 and asked the pro-shop to replay the front since their marshall wouldn't solve the issue (my words to them). Played the regular tees first time and the tips the second, (6324 yds, par 72, 70.4/120) played the back nine in an hour with the course to myself. Shot 38-37, 75 for my best round of the year so far. 6 bogies, a birdie and an eagle. Had two three putts, but I did myself no favor leaving myself 85'+ putts for birdie, on pretty slow greens. Lots of long putts I had on line and left a foot or less or short, so very good day for me on the greens.

I shot 82 today.  Other than the driver, I'm hitting the ball horribly.  And I'm especially bad around the greens.  I don't chip it close very often and when I do I usually miss the putt.  I double hit a wedge today - effin horrible!

We have an 18-hole stroke play event at my club on Saturday.  Today was not what I would call a confidence builder.

Wound up shooting 73 today, played the West 9 twice from the tips at GTCC. Still can't make a birdie putt from anything other than bomb range. So frustrating missing 4 and 5 foot birdies. Nonetheless it was a solid round...one birdie and four bogeys.

I didn't even care what I shot today.  I just focused on keeping my head still and keeping in a good rhythm and getting good contact with the ball.   Not getting excited, not getting angry.  Didn't shoot a great score but I feel the good scores are coming.  Hit a lot of good shots, just have to hit more!  I love this game.

81 (39 + 42) it started to go down hill when on a par 5, being 15 yards off the green on my 2nd shot, then proceded to double bogie the hole for a 7.

104 today. On 7 holes I three putted. I'd say two of those holes were hard putts, the other five a third putt was not needed at all....

On a par 4, 275 yards I reached the green on my tee shot leaving a 13-15' eagle putt.......I proceeded to par the hole.

A 104 sounds bad but last year my best round was in the 140's and I had never played this course before. This is my second round in a row under 110, goal is to consistently shoot under 100.

92 w/ 1 birdie and 3 pars. This is a good round for me since I am a high capper. Putter was on fire.
