Spent some time at the range last week tinkering with my new Vapor Fly and the various shaft options I had, found one I was happy with then did a comparison between the two. Initially tried the Kuro Kage X-Flex from my old Covert based on how well it wentin the Red Mist, and strangely, in the Vapor Fly, it wasn't very good at all. Not sure if it was the fact it had the old heavier Covert style Flex Loft adapter on it, but the club felt a little "dead" and was just a slice machine. So put in my Blueboard 60S and it was transformed - long, straight and carried forever. I did have to crank it down to 8.5" to keep spin down however.

DSC_0351.JPG

Quick review of the Vapor Fly vs the Covert Tour:

Looks and Feel - gotta admit I still give this to the Covert. Head size and shape are similar to the Vapor Fly, but the Red of the covert does make the head look significantly smaller. Also off the club face the Vapor Fly feels slightly dead, without the almighty crack you could get out of the Covert. Must admit I do prefer louder drivers, but I am getting used to the more muted VF.

Distance - not much in it - on the course the VF was typically finishing around 5-10 yards past where the Covert landed. Next time I go on Trackman or equivalent I will try to get a better idea, but the VF definitely carries further from work on the range.

Accuracy - VF all day long. The Covert was fairly accurate, but prone to the odd vicious hook, which has pretty much gone with the VF. Worst I get now is a slight baby fade.

Plus, changing from a 54/58 wedge combo to a single 56 has enabled me to put the 1-iron back in the bag (pictured above), and I am shocked by how easy to hit it is.

The Putter: Scotty Cameron California Del Mar - 34"

Anything good in this bin?

A square sole engage 52 would be a find!

I saw three at a shop near my house. 1 as a 50*. No discounts though

Aw man! I have the VPC Approach wedge in the bag currently with a 58 DS engage (with 2 backups in the closet). There are times when I prefer the A wedge and times I wish had the engage 52 wedge. I usually do 3/4 to full shots with the A wedge from around a hundred-120 or so so I think it fits my skill set best but like I said, times I wish had a wedge instead of another iron.

IMO Nike absolutely nailed it with the Engage wedges - I replaced my set PW with a 50 Square, and I think it is my favourite wedge ever. So versatile, easy to use on full shots, and I love the head heavy feeling of them - like I just have to drop the club on the ball and it will do the rest.

Quite a few 52 Square on Ebay UK as well if you're interested....

Agreed on the 50 Square Sole Engage. I had been using a 46/52/56/60 setup before, switched to 46/50/55/60 and I like the gapping better. The 4* and 5* gaps are better than the 6* between PW and GW and then 4* between the other 3.

I just put a fresh set in the bag, and I have one more full set of backups + some other lofts/grinds to play around with. Toying with the idea of a 59* Toe Sweep for certain rounds. The weight and performance of these just works perfectly for me. Other brands just feel light to me now after using these for so long.

Thanks man. $20 insert + ~$70 engraving/ship to Putter Spa + $110 refinish + $30 grip and shipping = $230 all in. I already had the putter so I didn't factor it in.

If you don't want all the engraving and new grip it knocks $100 off. Would be less than $150 for bead blasting/paint and copper insert only.

The weather hasn't cooperated for me to get out and do any extensive testing, but from putting around on the carpet it feels more solid than the poly insert but not clicky. I like the feel of it.

Ross?

My wife grabbed me a few gloves from there a few weeks back for 4.99.

Yep. Ross.

Apparently the ross I went to tonight has a theft issue. Every single golf glove had a sensor thing right through the glove...right where the end of the club would be. And a second hole for the price tag. I'm not confident that repeated use wouldn't wear that spot down early. Passed on them tonight.

Finally arrived from NDC. A week past and still didn’t arrive. Turns out it wasn’t scanned by the shipping company so it never moved.

I contacted Nike customer service and they sent a new one next day air.

Awesome hat Lesmond. This is the best fitting hat (for my huge melon anyways) Nike has ever released. I have it in white and the siren red colorways.

Yup. Great fit and materials.

Now I have the grey to go with the black. I’ll probably pick up more colors the next NDC clearance sale.

Had something pretty cool delivered today... They call it a 001, but as you can see, it's more like a 006W... All I know is #ThatAintNoChinese006

I think I might get a topline sightline as it's all blank just now. Will probably do something non permanent for a while and see how i like it.

Nice putter. Sorry for my ignorance, but what is an 006(w)? Is it different than a normal 006 or are they the same?

Here's one: http://www.golfwrx.c...24693_thumb.jpg

From what I understand, it was a tour issued prototype which was a 006 with changeable weights. I can't see any difference to mine.

Had something pretty cool delivered today... They call it a 001, but as you can see, it's more like a 006W... All I know is #ThatAintNoChinese006

I think I might get a topline sightline as it's all blank just now. Will probably do something non permanent for a while and see how i like it.

This sat in a closet for years.  Then it got cold and I got bored, sent it to be refinished and Sight Dot put on.  Refinish covered the laser etching on the sole, Prototype 001 - the Oven.

Are the weights removable or are they glued in like the method matter series?  If they are removable what did you use to remove them?  Thanks.

Quick question - given that I am more than happy with my 2013 California Del Mar (just gone round in 27 putts), am I bonkers for considering the Method 003 currently for sale on GolfBidder in the UK for Ł40?

Anyone tried them both?
The Red Mist: Nike Covert 1.0 Tour - 10.5 degree - Kuro Kage 60G X-Flex Shaft
The Fairway Wood: Nike Vapor Fly 3W - Diamana Blueboard 70S+
The Fairway Finder: Nike Vapor Fly Pro 2 Iron - KBS C-Taper 120S
The Blades: Nike Blades 3i - 9i - DG S400 Shaft
The Rusties: Nike Engage 50, 54 Square Sole, 58 Toe Sweep
The Putter: Scotty Cameron California Del Mar - 34"
Balls: Nike RZN Tour Black/Platinum
Bag: Sun Mountain Four Five

Also in Rotation:

Spare Driver: Nike Covert Tour - Diamana Blueboard 60S
Fairway Woods: Nike Vapor Fly 5W - Diamana Blueboard 70S+
Driving Iron: Nike Blade 1-iron - DG S400
Putters: Yonex Super A.D.X Tour Forged / Scotty Cameron Newport Oil Can / Hogan Radial P51

LOL. I’m still using a Chinese made 006.
They’re lovely. I was just being funny with the Chinese bit.

Realised just how many methods I have now...
The Method Thread - Never Forget - We still rolling out here - sick customs and moreOver the past year or so I've picked up a full bag worth of Nike Method putters... Now that I've seen my own madness, I thought I'd share a few pics before I thin out the herd.http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1164653-The-Method-Thread---Never-Forget---We-still-rolling-out-here---sick-customs-and-more/page__view__findpost__p__16684452

Very cool. Is that cerakote? I’d assumed the grooves would cause issue. It’s very nice in black.

I assume they are. I have an oven origin and those are.

Well if history repeats itself, it will most likely not be used too long.

Yeah I am so pleased with the finished product.  Only issue is I now want all my putters refinished like this.
