Yes I have done searches and looked at the topics but they do not exactly answer my question. Next Thursday I am looking to play the Black as a single and want to know what time I shold arrive there to get a spot to play between 10 am and noon? Should I just be there for 5 or 6 am? I am thinking I should do that but wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences or give some advice about what to do. Thanks and IM so excited to play the Black.

I am hoping to play that Saturday (sept 15) as a single as well. Any further advice for me?

I have played several times as a single. Each time I tried, I was successful in getting out. I got there around 5:30 or 6am. Usually got out around 9:30 or 10. Good luck.

Just show up around 5am and get in line. You shouldn't have too much trouble as a single on a Thursday. Saturdays are exponentially harder to get out on the Black. Don't forget about the Red as an alternative. It's also a great course.

Get there a few minutes before 5 and pull in the lot on the right as soon as you get into the complex. That is where they hand out the numbered tickets.

Is it impossible to get on as a twsome? I'm coming across the country to visit a friend in north jersey, and we're thinking of heading over to bethpage for a day. I really only want to play the black.

No it shouldn't be to much trouble especially on a Tuesday thru Thursday, on Friday and the weekends you may have to arrive real early (330-400). Otherwise arriving around 5 on a weekday will get you out anywhere from (9:00 - 11:00).

I found out that the course will be open on Monday Sept 17, so I think I'm going to try to play then instead of the weekend. I would imagine this gives me a better chance?

Yea it does. Ill post up the conditions because I am making the trip to the Black on Thursday, 9/13. I am really really excited and am expecting a hard course but will probably be my most enjoyable rounds of golf ever.

granted it was early in the season (march '07) but a friend and i arrived at around 8AM on a weekday (can't remember which one right now) and got a time for just before 11AM...as a twosome. he used to run the proshop there but didn't even have to pull any strings (just got free range balls to warm up and kill time before we went off).
