To all those who golf during the week, especially more than once, what jobs/schedules do you have that allows this? I'm sure some are retired, but for those who are not what do you do?

I run the corporate rat race all week, and find no time to get on the course, which really sucks, but I need to money to survive.

I always thought working at a course would not leave you much time to actually play. What do you do there and how's your schedule? How often do you get to play?

i don't get to play as often as i want, but i definitely get my share of golf in.

i work in the proshop and i open twice a week and close the other three days. during my closing shift, i go hit balls outside when the course slows down after we sell our last round.

so, i try to play four times a week, and if i miss a day, i'll just loop two or three rounds on one of my days off.

while i'm going to school, it seems to work for me.

Ah yes, the DuPont sked. Was on it for 3 years (and loved it.)
I work in a power plant and we did the DuPont for 3 years and have gone to a 5 on 2 off/2 on 5 off rotating days and nights on a 12 hour schedule. Id' have plenty of time for golf if it weren't for constant understaffing, outages, training, and coverage for sick and vacation. :russian_roulette:

I do random stuff - usually fairly nerdy computer things - for a company Dad owns. Some weeks I have lots of work, some weeks I don't have much. I'm not going to be studying full time again until March next year, so I have plenty of free time at the moment, even pulling 40 hour weeks. Working from home helps, as does living a 2 minute drive from my club's car park!

A normal golf day is office from 8am to 12pm, driving range/chipping green/putting practice until 1:30pm, golf from about 1:30pm to 5pm, post-golf-beer/shower/dinner/relax from about 5pm to 7pm, then back in the office until anywhere from 11pm to 2am.

A non golf day usually gets a few hours more sleep and some non golf, non work stuff in there somewhere.

It's 11:40pm and I'm still in the office...

I work at a bank and get off work at 5 everyday which gives me time during the summer months to go straight to the course and get nine holes in when I want. Not to mention the course I play at is just a couple of minutes away from the bank I am at.

Technical guy for the sales team (pre and post sales support). Since I travel for work, my boss is very flexible with my working hours. Heck, there's plenty of times he's told me to take a couple days off after being on the road more than I should be. Plus, I can actually go golf with clients, my own sales team, etc. One of our sales guys lives right up the street from me so we try to play every couple weeks during the day.

Work 70-80 hours a week, but flexible enough to get in weekday golf, not as easy on weekends.

Business Analyst...flexible scheduling to a degree, as long as all milestones/project deadlines are on target. That leaves room for early departures, days off, etc when there aren't things going on to keep me occupied.

During the spring & summer I work an early shift leaving me free to golf in the evenings until its too dark to see. Then for fall & winter I work a later shift allowing me to golf until noon. Gotta love a flexible job!

Police. Work 10p to 6a so I either play when I get off in the morning or get up around noon and head to the course. Great hours to play lots of golf.

I am in sales so I play in many golf outings and take clients out to play. I usually get out once during the week to play. I also hit the range a couple of days a week at lunch or late in the day. I have a very understanding wife who lets me play Sat and Sun mornings too. Before I got into sales I was general manager of a large college bar so I used to play on average 6 times a week. Those were the days!!

My relative is a master at his own Tae Kwon Do gym. Marshall arts classes don't usually start until school is over so he has all morning hours to himself (very nice job for golfer). He told me that he met many dentists at golf courses.

General manager in auto parts factory. Once my drivers are back, usually @ 4pm, I transfer all the phone calls to my cell. I've been playing 3 or 4 times a week and my game has never been worse. I usually work out during the week and play in the weekend but I've been doing both for the last 4 months. My respect for Tiger just doubled. I walk 90% of the time and hate to ride. And I tell you this: I'm tired!!! I'm in the mid 30's and sure miss my 20's.

I worked nights at Slaveway during my first couple years of college. It took a toll on my game so I had to quit.

Interesting you're from Vancouver, where do you usually play? It seems we have an influx of Portland-metro people ending up here.

I'm a waiter! crappy job, but couldn't be better for golf. if I work a lunch shift, I'm out by 3. plenty of time to practice or even play. and if I'm on at night, I don't have to be there untill sometime after 5:30. if I have enough money, I can play or practice hours every day.

I know you guys are all jealous. . .no kids, no wife, no mortgage, just golf.

I'm just joking. please never be jealous of a waiter.

ROFL, I love how everyone doesn't even notice this post.

Nice one.

I'm a high-school student, crappy for golf, except the summers obviously. By the time I'm done with homework, I have a half-hour to practice...
