Is there an anti-cadet?  I have long thin hands, and large gloves fit my fingers but only strap on loosely.

Cadet medium is actually the MOST POPULAR size.  I don't have particularly small hands, but its the size I wear.  The tighter the glove, the longer they will last.  If you wear out your palm or index finger quickly, you are wearing the wrong size.  I bet it takes me 25+ rounds to go thru a glove!

The wear on your glove can tell alot about the sizing but also about your grip.  For example, if you are wearing the glove on the heel portion you are probably regripping at the top and there is friction in that area causing the excess wear.

Be aware that all gloves fit differently even if they are the same size.  I get FJ Sta-soft gloves by the box - a dozen to the box.  There will be 6 or 7 out of a box that fit perfectly.  The others will be either too loose or too tight.  Thank God I have a pro who lets me swap these out for good fitting gloves.

I've just been looking into these gloves and most sites say that they have fingers about 1cm shorter than standard and the palms are 1cm wider than standard.

So, proportionally you have short fingers and wide palms to fit a cadet glove. They are much smaller than standard men's gloves too. A large cadet is about the same as a men's small.

I use an XL or XL cadet depending on company. I like the cadet because it feels tighter even though I know it shouldn't. I don't have short fingers but I just like the feel of the cadet more.

Sir you win the award today for reviving the oldest thread.  10 years is pretty darn good for a site that isn't much older than that!

This just simply is not true. I wear an FJ cadet XL that is tight across my palm, but if i wear Taylormade gloves i wear a regular XL. A cadet large is nowhere near the size of a mens small. Refer to this chart to see what gloves you need:

Just to clear things up....middle finger length means from wrist to tip of middle finger and palm width means around your palm. This is from a FootJoy fitting thing where you pull a strap across your hand.

If i measured my hand as it states it would put me into a men's small. After using one of these and measuring with a tape measure using what I said above, I get the same numbers.

Edit: Here is a link to what the fitting thing is. https://www.footjoy....ex/13847#bottom

Uhhhhhhhhh, no.  Not even close.  A cadet glove has shorter fingers.  That is the only difference.
