I also bet it's strange for Jack looking down at an iron that doesn't have diamonds on the face.

I've tried to play other irons but I always find myself longing for a club that looks like the VIP / Muirfield variants.  Those diamonds on the faces help me line up and help frame the ball in a way that helps me hit it more solidly.

How cool would it be if Miura took a set and put diamonds on the faces??!!  I would pay at least a couple grand for set of those puppies!!

I inquired of Scratch whether they could make a set of custom heads with diamonds on the faces.....  as if their custom Don White irons weren't already expensive enough, I was told that yes, they could do it, but it would cost $10,000 for a set of 8 heads.  I wasn't even tempted on that!!

I would be very surprised if Miura doesn't introduce a model with Jack's name on it...they made irons for MacGregor in the 90's, the PCB Tour was their model 301, which they still make.  Jack played an iron in the early 90's called the JNP which was a forged cavity back, a bit longer heel to toe, and had a lower cg to help hit the ball higher with a touch of forgiveness...all while maintaining a classic blade profile.  He played some of his very best golf with those irons, winning three of four senior majors in 1991 as well as almost winning the Masters twice.  Jack was a great iron player and those clubs had restored his iron game back to a very competitive level...I would say a 90-95% solution. He wasn't as long off the tee as he once was but his iron play made him competitive again in the bigger tournaments...along with renewed confidence from winning multiple majors on the senior tour.

Unfortunately when he left MacGregor in 1993 he did not continue to play those irons, he went back to a blade and that was that. The difference was noticeable...he shot 28 under par to win the senior players championship in 1991--destroying Lee Trevino in the process, and hit a three iron 230+ yards over water to three feet for an eagle on 18 the next year to get in a playoff, causing Roger Maltbie to just about fall out of the tower while broadcasting it.

Miura's are gorgeous irons, but priced at a level few of us can enjoy...I would love a set of the 1957s, but they are way beyond my reach.  I'll have to settle for something a little less elite myself.

It looks like there is a Golf Ect in Frederick Maryland but I read a review that would make me not want to deal with them.

            Thanks for the suggestion

Lead tape on the wedge...wondering if he still uses the Secret Grips he endorsed at one time, or if he counterbalances anything else in the arsenal.

Jack has counterbalanced his clubs for years...long before he endorsed Secret Grips.
This is true.  I worked for a shop that acquired a lot of odds and ends from Tom Stites old company Impact Golf when he moved to Nike, and several sets of Jack's old shafts were included and they were all back-weighted.  He used leather grips for a long time...him and Trevino used leather until they just couldn't get them any more!

I found a dealer in Virginia so I'll take Miura irons for a spin and see if the juice is worth the squeeze.   I have played Mizuno irons for years so they better feel twice as good because they
seem to be twice the price or more.

Good luck with that :)  They are nice clubs, beauties to look at, and well made with tight specs and a unique feel, but they are much like owning a high end putter vs. a custom fit Ping or Odyssey, you are paying for a luxury item.  I am not opposed to that sort of thing, I own a Miura wedge and it is nice, but a Vokey or a Mizuno gets the job done too.

I hear ya ...  I own 3 sets a Mizuno Irons including a set of Tzoid Pro II's that came off the tour van and they are fantastic.  I acquired these from a Mizuno employee and played them for a few years when I was down to a 4 handicap.

I contemplated having them refinished

Mizunos are a nice alternative, but have a few gripes.

1. Mass produced forging (inconsistent head weights/finish done in China)

2. Shape of the scoring irons in their MP line.

3. Chrome finish

By the time you invest in the "upgrades" at yoro craft which starts at 1,200 your nearly in the same ball park as Miura. If you don't mind spending a grand on any set of irons, then spending 1,400 - 1,700 on a set of Miura is negligible.

I've owned mp 67's, mp 53's, and mp 64's (still have the 64's, chrome dust collectors) and nothing mizuno makes can touch the craftmans precision of a Miura iron.

You are spot on with your comments.
I have a small golf shop in Indiana. I have changed shaft on several sets of Mizuno's, and was very shocked with the first set I did, all heads had tip weights inside the shafts, some as much as 6 grams, "not real good quality control"

I'm searching for the Miura CB 57 Heads only but am tempted to buy the CB 1007 or CB 2007 since TourSpec Golf has 25% off holiday sale.  I guess I need to decide now to take advantage of the sale.

Does anyone have 1st hand experience with the Japanese market models?

Last bit of advice I'm suggesting.

Your still in the hole $1,100 if you order the cb 1007 on the perception of "I hope these work".

And it's only for the heads. It's always best to see a "certified local Miura dealer" when making such a purchase. Otherwise you are leaving too many unknowns and variables unresolved. Doubt has no reassurance.

You can demo the 57 head with the proper spec shaft for your own personal swing to see if that makeup even works for you. 25% off is worthless if you end up ill fitted due to inpatience and looking for the best deal.

The best part of my Miura setup is the relationship that I have with my Miura dealer and knowing that I have a set that not I only do I like, but am assured that fits me.

I dont know about the refreshing comment but I do agree he sounds like he knows what he is talking about. The Miura dealers I have run into seem to be a good batch of fitters. Sure there are some bad eggs and you can find them by doing a 10 min search on google.

There are two Miura certified dealers in my state so I'll see how it goes getting in to see one or both of them.  The closest is about 90 miles away and this time of year in Maryland the weather is usually crappy so we shall see what these dealers have as far as a fitting facility.

90 miles? You must be way west or east? I'm in Frederick so kinda in the middle of everything. I think Golfdom is  a Mura dealer. They have a location in port of Russia pa. That may be closer?

90 miles? You must be way west or east? I'm in Frederick so kinda in the middle of everything. I think Golfdom is  a Mura dealer. They have a location in port of Russia pa. That may be closer?

I'm In Harford County .  The Maryland dealers are in Rockville and Ijamsville

Golfdom carries them but it seems like after 5PM all the competent folks go home and the custom club builder types are gone.

Does anyone know if the Japanese Giken Miura Irons are the same weight specs?

Go see Buddha at club champion in Rockville MD. He'll take care of you and let you try out the Miura with any shaft you'd like.

Those irons are beautiful.  No more blades for old Jack...
I know it gets thrown around a lot but imo they are the best looking irons I've ever seen. They look beautiful but still with enough forgiveness about them that anyone could play them.

To my eye they both look like the old Ram tour grinds.
