Hey, I was just wandering what the badge that is on the players cap is? Is it their "player pass"?

Pretty sure it is, yes.

I seem to remember a story a few years ago of a player that gave their cap to a fan on the 18th then had to rush back over to retrieve his badge that was still stuck to it!

Yeah, it's a players badge.

I'm pretty sure that other tournaments have them as well but for someone reason, everyone seems to wear them in the Open Championship. I'm not sure if that was always the case because I can't remember seeing them on some of the archive footage but somewhere through the years, they've become common place.

They don't have to wear them on their headwear either. A lot of guys will wear them on their belts.

I saw a re-cap of 1999's Open and they had t bhjhem on then. (I know this is off topic but) Im going to the open on Sunday (first golf tourny v. excited) hopefully I can bring something back that belongs to one of the players!!

Here is mine from Doral in 2001. Every tournament has a badge or something that signifies who is in the tournament. Some are different. You are given the badge and all of your other goodies when you check in for the event.
