Tiger Woods plays 18 holes at Augusta

Published

There are some speculations that endlessly burn in the mind’s of the American public: Who killed JFK? Do aliens exist? What was the best thing before sliced bread? Will Tiger Woods play in the 2015 Masters?

On Tuesday, The Augusta Chronicle reported that a plane with tail numbers matching Woods’ Gulfstream G5 was parked at the Augusta Regional Regional Airport terminal. It was later confirmed that Tiger played 18 holes at Augusta National on Tuesday.

Woods, now ranked No. 104 in the Official World Golf Rankings, has until his tee time on Thursday to make a decision on whether he’s playing the Masters. That means we have until April 9 to speculate on Woods’ plans and go plane-watching.

Grassy knolls, UFO’s and Tiger’s G5 — so much controversy, so few answers.

Is the above photo Tiger’s actual G5 (hint: it’s not)? And does Augusta Chronicle’s plane-spotting prove that Tiger will indeed play the Masters (hint: it doesn’t)?

What we do know is that Woods has publicly stated that he will not play again on Tour until he feels his game is worthy of competition. Is he ready yet, in his eyes? We’ll know soon enough.

Stop talking about this guy . You reporters have to learn to focus on important things in golf ,the tide has turned . Stop comparing every thing every swing with tiger . We finally got Jonny Miller to stop talking about himself well almost. Tiger is done face it he was great in the day and now the day is done . There are many young talented new golfers to talk about so get at it . His back won’t let him play competive golf anymore GET IT .

I hope Tiger plays. Hope he plays 4 rounds. Hope someone else wins. Shouldn’t be too hard…

Hopefully Mr. Woods, the GREATEST golfer ever to play the game, puts a peg in the ground at A Gusta! Go low Eldrick!

I can help but feel that every time I read these “when will Tiger play next?” type stories it almost immediately degenerates into a “when will Tiger WIN next?” story. There’s too much expectation on Tiger (both from the press and himself) to return to winning form, because to find that form he needs to be 100% injury free which he will never be now. If/when Tiger gets back to playing regularly he needs to start acting his age- he isn’t a McIlroy or a Spieth anymore, he can’t just demolish a course, he’s too old and creaky for that, he needs to look at the likes of Kuchar and Furyk and those other (relatively older) top-ten machines and try to emulate their approach- slower, calmer and more consistent. If he does then I can’t help but feel it’s only a matter of time before he’s back in the winners circle again, but hey, he’s got a gazillion majors, I have zero, I’m sure Tiger will do what’s best for Tiger and at the end of the day no one will ever be able to take away what he has already accomplished.

Why do people care if Tiger plays or not? Aren’t you people tired of watching him with that pissy look on his face after every shot? He plays the game like a spoiled child that had his candy taken away. Every….single…shot no matter what….he makes a face like he just shanked it into the water. What is enjoyable about watching that? With so many other good golfers with positive attitudes and dispositions out there to watch, why would you rather watch Mr. Sour Puss?

What you say is true. It is a mystery to me why he even plays since it tortures him so

Dear Media, Have a look at the tour without Tiger. Very compelling talent like Speith, Reed, et al. Stop talking about Woods. The needle used to be Tiger, but the tour has moved on. He’s done.

Nothing in the sport has the potential to be a bigger story than Tiger winning another major or even another tournament. His fall from excellence has been morbidly fascinating, and a return to dominance, even just once, would be incredible. I won’t speculate with you on how likely that actually is because neither of us really know. I just know that Tiger still contains more potential energy in his little finger than the rest of the tour combined.

That said, all he seems to do these days is show up at majors without putting in any time at lower-profile events with less pressure, and that doesn’t seem like the way to get comfortable enough to actually win one.

I wouldn’t call a single win dominance, especially not in a game a fickle as golf. He will need to win a BUNCH more than once to be labelled as dominant again.

The media really needs to take a chill pill because they are making this much bigger (as usual) than it needs to be. TW playing 18 at Augusta is the FIRST sign of progress. It does not mean he is going to play. My guess is he made enough progress at his club that he decided to test his game on major course set-up conditions. If his practice sessions meet or exceed his expectations…that will be a SECOND sign of progress…increasing the odds he’ll play. If his practice sessions don’t go well, he won’t. Simple as that.

Regardless of where he finishes, as long as he makes the cut, it will be good for the game of golf if he decides to play. I really hope he plays again, as a fan of both Tiger and the game (obviously!) we need him more than he needs us.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
