Feherty’s TV contracts ending, he feels sorry for Tiger

Published

on

David Feherty told AL.com that his TV contracts with the Golf Channel and CBS are ending after this year, and that he feels sorry for Tiger Woods.

The colorful on-course reporter, golf analyst and host of Golf Channel’s Feherty, joined CBS Sports in 1997 after retiring from professional golf. After 18 years, he never thought he would feel bad for Tiger, but says he’s content with his own future in the golf industry — no matter what happens.

Feherty on his sympathy for Tiger:

[quote_box_center]”For the last 18 years he has had a camera meet him in the parking lot and follow him to the parking lot when he’s done. It’s a great shame, really, that we haven’t given him any privacy or any kind of respect. Even this last episode when he was so bummed and deflated, and for the first time he gave the impression he felt like a basket case, we still followed him to his car and watched him struggle to get his shoes off and drive away.[/quote_box_center]

“I mean, really? Enough. I never thought I’d feel sorry for him, but I do.”

Here’s what Feherty told AL.com about his TV contracts and future in the industry:

[quote_box_center]All of my contracts are up at the end of this year with the Golf Channel and CBS so I don’t know where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing. It’s kind of a strange time, but no matter what happens, I’ll think of something. I’ve got to a stage in my life having been through what I’ve been through and gotten sober and healthy for the last eight-and-a-half years, nothing matters to me except the time I have left and how I spend it. It’s nothing to do with money or anything else. It’s just about time, it’s all that matters. If I can spend that time enjoying myself, but helping other people, then I’ll grab my hat and be happy.[/quote_box_center]

Would he stay with CBS and the Golf Channel if those options were in the cards?

[quote_box_center]Absolutely, I enjoy doing it. I’m constantly surprised. Can you believe I get paid for this s—?[/quote_box_center]

He is a breath of fresh air to the game and it would be a travesty not to see him on the air. I do like his approach to life in general as outlined above. Truly a class act who got his life and priorities together. Regarding Tiger, I agree. Leave the man alone and give him a chance to get his game together. If it can be done he will do it. If not, he will go down as a great player who like all of us has his flaws and is human.

Until CBS dumps Jim Nantz and his droning of the obvious they have lost me. What a great spot for Feherty.

“We haven’t given him any privacy”. I hope, Mr. Feherty, that the “we” you’re referring to are you and CBS. The viewing public want to see Tiger play golf, not limp through the parking lot to his Escalade.

I’m not a huge fan of his TV show but I like the guy and his commentary. A lot. I hope they keep him in the crow’s nest or on the ground.

Golf Channel, CBS and espcially NBC would be nuts to let him sit idle. In my opion he could easily replace Johnny Miller and I might watch NBC more often.

Add some mystique. Keep the coverage between the ropes.
Feherty is an excellent interviewer and should start reshaping his image for a longer ride by toning down the comedy

If he was going to renew with CBS and GC, I sort of think that it would have happened already, or at least he wouldn’t be talking about it.

Now that Fox is getting into golf, I have to think that Fox is where Feherty is heading, and probably for a raise.

I think what happens on the course is fair game for full coverage. Practice Tee to Post Game interview. Outside of that, privacy should be respected and coverage is off limits.

Luv Feherty. The man makes us laugh and feel good after shooting 90 ok. It’s a great show with incredible interviews and insight. If the GC and CBS have any sense at all they will extend Feherty’s contracts asap because bringing him on was one of the best moves they ever made…for real.

Jon, your stupidity is quite astonishing. You are a moron.

Well, it’s a good thing that you believe in a persons right to state their opinion even though it disagrees with yours.

I get really tired of people who intentionally go into high wage, high profile vocations and then complain about the lack of privacy. If Tiger didn’t want cameras following him into the parking lot, he should have gone into the insurance business.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
