I recently purchased a 983E 8.5* w/Prolite and although I hit it extremely well, the launch is a tiny bit too low. I've been stalking ebay for a 9.5* and came across this beaut: http://cgi.ebay.com/Titleist-983E-9-5-Stif...1QQcmdZViewItem

Unfortunately, my moron a** was trying to pay as little as possible in the last seconds of the auction, disregarding the fact I would was willing to pay much higher and should just have entered a bid for that amount.

The ONLY reason that I feel so bad about the auction is the seller says it appears to have never been hit which equates to a brand new club. sad.gif

The minor upside is I don't think I swing the Speeder that well and can live another day to find a 9.5* w/Prolite for cheap.

Any auction you guys regret not pulling the trigger on?

I missed a set of s59 tours a few weeks ago that went for $350 CDN. Missed an r5 TP that sold the other day for $290 US. Ah well, I'll come across what I need sometime.

The shaft was worth more than the closing bid. Some lucky sap got a deal!

There are two auctions that really got away....I would have payed three times as much as either auction went for!!!

Especially this one:

This one aswell:

I hit this same exact wedge, the grind on the one I hit atleast was incredible. The sole was very rounded, and sand shots were a breeze, they also had an incredible feel/spin. The kid's that I hit, he had paid $250 a peice in Japan for a three peice set (52º, 56º, 60º) which were new in plastic.

I've had quite a few good ones get away just from not paying attention. I hate it when you lose out by a dollar or two.

Also let more than few go because the prices just get out of hand. Some bidders just get stuck on winning and end up over-paying. I know I've done that before.

I had my eyes on an auction that was for 4 680 irons -- 7/8/9/P and was willing to go up to $250. I thought they would be nice to use in a combo set. They ended up selling for almost $300 and that is just stupid to pay that much for half a set of used irons, but someone did.

983E's commonly go for $80 but this one was of particular interest because 1)it was 9.5*, 2)it had a speeder X and 3)apparently it was brand new. The 3rd reason is what I'm really hung up on. I would've bid up to $80 and should just have done that since the guy probably had $65 as his max bid but certainly no more than $70. Now I'll never know cray.gif

DONT WORRY ABOUT A DOLLAR, when you think about it if the person is smart they will bid a high maximum bid, then someone that sucks bids one dollar higher. You can never know what their highest bid is. This is how I comfort myself after loosing brand new dell latitude d600 for a mere 300 russian_roulette.gif

Ouch...

I'm not the only one who thinks that 983E was great, even for $100, am I? And why the hell aren't there any decent 983E 9.5* w/Prolite?

I've had so many auctions lost because I was too scared to pull the trigger. I've either waited to the end and lost it in the last seconds or put up an early bid and been knocked out in the last seconds. Now...when I see something that I've been hunting, I just go for it. Either post up my max bid early and hope for the best in the end or just go for an early "buy it now" offer.

I ran into quite a few bids that ended unfavorably... I used to put my max bid in then just sit back and wait... I still do that when the auctions end at ungodly times... but now I watch them till the very last minute with my max bid open ready to go in another window and with about 7 seconds left I let my bid fly!!!!! I have not missed out since....

A $20 spongebob golf bag for my daughter because my broadband provider got screwed up for 2 weeks. When it's something for me I always try the more direct route and make an offer outright.

Man, that was definitely a good thing I didn't win the auction. I've now moved on to looking at 905S's.

Too bad they all come with Grafalloy Blue and none with Prolite sad.gif

I thought I has a sweet deal on a new R7 TP when they first came out but with just seconds left it went up like $150. You never know what going to happen until the last moment.

QUite simpily there are two products on ebay one that have huge demand and the others which are just as cool but dont, the second catagory you can bid and expect to win even if the auction ends in a week. The first (ipods are a great example) you can expect to lose, it took me 2 weeks to get a ipod on ebay, but I landed one for 180 with a dock, you just have to bid on all of them and just hope. If you have 30 seconds left on a ipod, and one bid from losing you have a bout a 70/30 chance of losing.
