advise wanted please, the plan is to get up to BP Black. My thoughts, some time in July still long hours of light... Leave here on a Thursday around midnight, get to BP and play Black then Red. After would drive and get out of city, sleep in some hotel and then play in OC, Del area saturday/sunday and then back to our little home in Solomons.
My question, how is this sound? Is the Red the next best course to play at BP and can we take a cart, Believe black doesn't allow carts. so black first then take a cart... Am familiar with courses in MD/Del area need advise on being able to play black. Planning on about group of 8-12 of us...

you can take a cart on the red and its the next best... a very good course on its own.... but unless you time the tee times (tough to do since you are from out-of state), it will be 11-11.5 hours of playing time 5+ on the black and amost 5.5-6 on the red.....i.e. assuming you have a tee time waiting right after....both may be difficult to complete on one day....it all depends on when you start on the black

I did 36 one day. Played the Red tee time was at 5:30am or something like it, then Got on the Black at about 11;30am ( got the greens fee ticket at 4:45 am when I paid for the Red). This is the only way to do it because early morning tee times on Red or Black usually play much faster. Although sometimes you get stuck behind some group that starts at like 6:00 am and still for some weird reason wants to finish in 5hrs. I will never understand this. But Good Luck anyway....

Just played Black on Tuesday, and let me just say right now it is not playing too dificult. Greens were relativly slow, rough was not penalizing at all. Only two things that make it tough is the distance (played the tips at 7400) and the fescue. But even the fescue (sp?) was not terrible because its not incredibly thick. You can deffinitly find your ball in it. I was a bit disapointed since it is hyped so much, but I guess that is my fault for believing that they can keep a public course at US Open caliber even in off years. Oh well, still had a good time.
Played red a few weeks ago, a good track too. I wouldn't want to play both in the same day, you will be dead after walking Black. It is tough to finish the round in less than 6 hrs. If you know anyone in NY who can get you a tee time this will help you a lot.
