I'm flying to LA to play golf next week and need a great travel bag, I've somewhat narrowed it down to two options, Club Glove "The Last Bag" and the Callaway X-Tour Travel Cover? Money is not really a huge issue regarding this as it's an investment that I will use for a long time. Anybody have experiences with either of these?

If money is not an object (and even if it is), I strongly recommend getting the ClubGlove. I had a burstproof for 5 years with 3-4 trips per year. It still looked new when I gave it to my dad. Never a damaged club. I learned from experience that you want a large travel bag to leave room for clothes, souveniers, and other accesories. Unfortunately, I decided to get an Ogio Monster to save money. While it protected the clubs and gave me the room I wanted, it looks like it is 10 years old after two trips. I am trying to get them to fix it under warranty, but their customer service is attrocious.

More then likely, I will get a ClubGlove for Christmas and use the Monster as a backup (girlfriend/fiance) bag.

Many people will recommend getting the stick they sell for $25. All these years, I have wrapped my clubheads in a towel. Instead of $25, I had a woodend stick made at Home Depot from a broomstick for$5. I just had it made 1 inch longer then my driver.

Finally, the other guy told you to get a hardcase. While they are certainly more protective, they have some HUGE downsides:
1. If you go overseas, you are screwed. They don't fit easily in rental cars or cabs. NEVER take one overseas.
2. If you travel in groups, they are a massive PITA. Lets say you and four buddies fly to Kiawah for a guys weekend. Your hardcase will be a problem with any car you rent.

Club Glove Last Bag...
Why get anything else it is the last bag you will ever buy. I have had mine for 4 years never any problems and from what i have heard their customer service is excellent if anything goes wrong they will replace it no questions asked.... Get ready to play some sick golf in L.A. Bring the camera...

I use the Club Glove Burstproof..I love it.

I think hard cases are too hard to maneuver. (Spelling? haha)

I traveled all through the UK with my lastbag and I'm really glad I opted for it over a hard case, so much easier to get around and did a great job protecting my stuff despite four separate plane rides, three train rides all in one one trip. It also has 2 nice shoe pockets which work great.

When you pack it remember to pick up a stiff arm (or similar home made device) to protect against lengthwise trauma. Also, pack as many of your irons in your bag as you can grip up, that will help protect them more and also move the center of gravity down lower and make it easier to tow it through the airport on wheels.

No regrets with my club glove last bag at all.

I have used the Burstproof, and while what people have said that they last well is true, I have just changed to a BagBoy THC 3 (sp) Mine has a few small rips, and the zipper is pretty beat up just from sliding around...

I fly ALOT!!! (work for an airline) and I found that even with my bag emboidered with my Airline they still threw them around, and I would frequently see them under a pile of suitcase being transported out to the plane, not such a worry you might think, and while I have never had a club break, it must put some stress on your longer clubs when a heavy bag is resting awkwardly on them...

The BagBoy breaks down into 3 peices so you can still fit it in cars easily enough. You do need some creativity still with putting small bags inside it when its broken down to make more room, but I at least know my clubs are safe.

One other thing to note is the lock on the BagBoy isnt TSA certified so they will bust it open to check your bag... I have my key attatched to my bag so they can get into it if needed... You need to lock the locks cause if the bag jerks the latches can open by themselves...

The Hard case bag rolls ALOT better than the soft cases without a doubt.

it is worth the money to get a good bag if your getting a soft case and I highly recommend the Burstproof... But I like my Bag Boy Hardcase better now smile.gif It just works for me better...

Another vote for Club Glove. I have the burst proof and it's been very good over the past five years or so.

Bagboys are a huuuuge pain in the backside.

Another vote for any of the ClubGlove bags. I've got a green burstproof, and it's no longer the slightest inconvenience to travel with your clubs. I do reccomend picking up the strongarm that goes along with it though, you never know who is handling your stuff, and nothing, short of a hard case, will protect your clubs against the knucklehead who drops your bag on the top side.

There is a reason that the club glove is the #1 travel bag on the PGA tour next to private jets.

I've used my SKB hardcase a few times and it has done it's job. It's not going to agree with a lot of rental cars in the compact size range, especially if you have 2 or 3 others with luggage.

I am making a trip later this summer and I think I will ship clubs out to my destination and then travel with them back home.

Money is not an object for me when protecting my clubs, never has been, having said that...I have used a ClubGuard hard case for almost ten years and traveled extensively with it...it is bulletproof (I just returned from NC with it)...$39.95 @ Walmart when purchased and I have seen them at Bass Pro Shops more recently...This is not a commercial for Clubguard, as I believe any well constructed hardcase is superior to a "softcase" when it comes to club protection...common sense...J

PS-If your main concern is fitting a hard case in an economy rental car, try one of the hardcase/travel bag combos...J

PPS-ClubGuard on Ebay for $45.00...J
