PutterTalk.com
If you are looking at a list of the most influential golf websites in history, GolfOpinions.com is certainly close to the top of the list. On June 1st, PutterTalk.com acquired GolfOpinions.com to continue the legacy.

Started in 2001 by avid golvers with…er…Opinions, GolfOpinions.com (GO for short) reached more than 20,000 members before a lot of todays golf websites were even imagined. In the past few years, other sites like out friends at GolfWRX.com have taken over the lead in terms of membership and popularity, but GO still remained one of the “Cornerstone” golf websites.

Initially, there won’t really be any major changes at GO. I plan on upgrading the software, and changing the appearance a little, but not much past that. In the coming months, we’re going to spend a lot of time adding features that will complement the site, and give the members a reason to stop by more often. My hope is that we’ll be able to return GO to a place where people can come and just talk about Golf…and offer their opinions.

To Existing GO Members:
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. A lot of the moderators you’ve grown to know are still going to remain quite active. The only real differences that you should notice are that the speed of the site and software will improve dramatically. I’ve been running internet forums since the late 90s, and have a pretty good track record with the golf forums that I’ve been involved with. Most of the guys at PutterTalk.com and other sites I’ve run will tell you that I run a pretty fun site. GO has a great legacy that I’m excited to be a part of.

PutterTalk Members:
While I still think PutterTalk will always be “Home”, I think that bringing a site like GO back to its former glory is a task WELL worth the effort. Think of this as a 20,000 member extension of our family.

If anyone has questions, just stop by either forum. There are threads in the “FAQ & Site Announcements” sections about this.

Here’s to the future!

Great Doug - I'm still a member over there at GO - but people at GO just seem a bit more relaxed and more in to the Game Improvement segment of the market - therefore I hang out more here at WRX...

But will check GO out very soon and see what kind of improvement you will make to the site.
A more modern & contemporary design of the website would probably be a good idea ok.gif

Congratulations Doug.

Maybe this will rev up GO again. GO needs a good push. The Mods there do a great job but somehow the membership seem apathetic at times. They need a couple of "I'll post even if you won't read it" types to spur things up.

Springbok gave it a good try a few months back.

I'm sure Doug will do GO proud. Here's the link over to their FAQ about the announcement:

Obviously some people don't like the connection between GolfWRX and Mr. Doug's sites. Well, you can't please everyone and everyone deserves their own GolfOpinion.

This just shows the difference beween this site and "The other site....you know what I'm talking about". If it had been over there, even mentioning another golf forum or golf related site would mean the thread would be closed in a matter of seconds and the members who participated in the debate would be expelled - maybe for good.

I know there is room for more than one golf web site - and the GO members are not hardcore low cappers as opposed to in here at Golfwrx ok.gif
I'm not saying the members of GO don't have a great big heart for golf - because they sure do have - they are just not into low cap gear as a lot of us in here are (low cappers or not tongue.gif )

I have a lot of love for GO. PRad and GolfAlot did so much as well as the other admins. Paul's Firesole Forged Bag pics were the ones that might have sucked me into these forums and I am forever grateful.

Easy- Same thing here. I have been a member for quite some time as it was the first net site I ever visited. Happened on it by chance. Didn't know the first thing about golf equipment other than buying things off the shelf with no real kind of fitting. What an education I received there.
Claus- No offense, but there is no such animal as low cap gear. Some of the best players I have seen play in some of the amateur tournaments I have played used Callaway or Ping shovels and monster head hook biased drivers. Have seen many a player with unforgiving drivers and blades that were nowhere near low cappers.I'm sure that GO has many good players that could stay with anyone on all the other forums.

Ok, then let me rephrase myself - A lot of Golfwrx'ers like to have very hard to hit & great looking golf gear in their bags, while most of the guys at GO just like to shoot the lowest possible score with a bag full of shovels tongue.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I'll buy that.
Mr. Doug
Great comments guys.

I'm still getting the lay of the land over there. Time will tell if this was a good idea or not. (I think it is.)

The GOOD news is that I'm keeping my relationship with the knuckle-heads here at WRX. (NO amount of time will tell if THAT was a good idea in the first place!) wink.gif

All-in-all, so far, so good.
