Is it just me or is anyone else tired of seeing Tiger finish up on 18 when he is 9 shots out of the lead and the last group has barely gotten into their round. I realize that Tiger drives the PGA tour and that some people want to see him no matter what he is doing, but come on, it is getting out of hand. They would rather show Tiger when he is not in contention than show Rod Pampling in the lead. To top it off, in the post round interview, he was asked if he thought he still had a chance to win.

If I were Tiger, I would have just walked off. Aghhhh, and then Bobby Clampett following him around with a never ending diatribe of "exquisite, majestic, beautiful, high-towering, ect" only to have the shot come up 10 yards short and roll back down the hill (one hole yesterday-I cannot remember which one). I want to see the contenders rounds of golf; not someone who 8-10 shots back on Sat. Tiger or not.

Tiger shoots a 62 today and he is still 1 shot back before the leaders go off and you will be able to count on your hand how many people will not be under par today I would bet.

I agree about the Tiger thing though he is pretty exciting to watch most of the time, the other thing that kills me is when boggy clampett and killy tilgham wax on about every single shot that he does. Like they think they are going to make some historic call of the action, guys you are no Verne Lundquist so get over yourselves.

Yeah I am sure that they do it just to piss you off. Has nothing to do with him winning 1/3 of the tourneys that he enters. Or the fact that TV ratings go through the roof when he is playing. I am sure they'd rather lose a couple of people knowing that the ratings go up by a factor of 5 when he is in the field. Like it or not he is the best and most exctiting player in the field and has made a lot of shots that other are incapable of making. Advertiser and majority rule, and you sir are in a very small minority.

If anyone is old enough to remember then the average winners share was a little over 100,000 dollars before tiger woods came along. I think 108,000 was a average number and something a little bigger like Doral or the Western Open paid 144,000. This is in the early 90's. BTW> before tiger woods. Curtis Strange won the season money title with just over 600,000 dollars in the late 80's. Tv gets more revenue as they can charge more for their commercials. So they instruct their announcers to make "everyone happy". If you think about it, the people that watch golf on tv or as my grandfather said "the idiot box" all they can do is watch. It is a privilege to get a signal thru the air or cable to your televison. If you dont like tiger then TIVO it or use the DVR on the cable. I have personally thought he was arrogant and had a semi chip on his shoulder to prove something because of his background. He is about to be a father soon. Things really change in your life if you are a father. If you are not one then you dont know or even have a clue as to what changes are going to happen to the man. It seems like he is maturing into something besides a hot shot kid. And I was a hot shot kid in my field in the 80's. It wasnt golf but business. On top of it all, if you have ever played in a local tournament at your club. And it was just like on tv. NO rolling the ball if it was in a divot or in a footprint in the sand. You hit it and go hit it to you can pick it up again on the green. Have someone shoot a 68 in the final round and take the lead or be close to the lead and be finished and you have to get it around in even par or one or two over to win. Then that throws extra pressure back on you. Have tiger shoot 62 and then have it on every leader board. Dont think its not the mind. I totally agree with the old saying. 90 percent of golf is played in that 4 inches between your ears. Either way its golf. You could be mowing the yard, or standing in a hospital with a sick or dying relative. So its privilege not a right to watch. Kinda like when u were a kid and had to eat all that was on your plate. If you can get the double meaning of that. And that is just my gripe.

It's not just the coverage, but the apologists for him. He's the only golfer I've seen on TV who has never hit a bad shot, or made a mental error: "Oh, he's not feeling well", "Someone moved," "He's got a terrible lie," etc.
When Steve Sands was interviewing Tiger...and trying to make excuses for him, e.g., "Oh, you must still be not feeling well." Tiger replied, "No, I feel great."
And, when Sands was talking about Scott shooting a 62, and how low scores are "out there", Woods replied, "I shot a 62, if you don't count my last three holes." Sands didn't quite know how to respond.
I respect TWs no BS answers, no excuses, etc, no matter how hard the interviewer tries to make excuses for him.
I agree that the TV coverage could be a bit more diverse.

Kelly Tilghman is the worst Tiger apologist. When he was about to beat Nick O'hern, one would have thought with the making of that 3 footer, he was curing cancer and aids at the same time. He missed, O'hern won, and she spewed the excuses.

Seriously, what does any of that have to do with the fact that Tiger is the only person that they will show coverage of throughout his round even if he is nowhere near contention. They will even go so far as to recap his round if he has finished before the t.v. coverage starts. This even happens on Sundays.

I know the OP has a point, but personally I would gladly watch every shot Tiger hits even if he's nowhere near the lead.

Kelly might be an apologist but I love the way Faldo says it like it is. He pounced on him when he missed that four footer, if I remember correctly.

I hate it as well, but unfortunately they aren't catering to those who visit golf message boards on the internet. They figure we will watch anyway, no matter who is shown. However, the marginal golf fan isn't going to watch unless Tiger is being shown in some capacity. It is all about tv ratings and apparently producers or whoever makes the decisions thinks this is what sells.
