So my girlfriend has offered to buy me a new golf bag for birthday, and I've settled on either the Ogio Edge or Grom, but I really don't know which one to go with, so I need opinions please. Which did you go with and why, or of the following reasons what would sway you?

Edge has the Hoode system
Grom has a color option I like better
Grom is half a pound lighter (is it really a big difference?)

Anyone think either bag is too heavy to walk with. I walk a little less than half the time, but I want a bag with the Torq strap.

If you usually ride, get the Edge. If you walk and use a push or pull cart, get the Edge. If you walk and carry, get the Grom.

Ok, I never walk and carry. I either ride or walk with Sun Mountain V1 push cart.

I spent most of last year with the 2006 Edge, and being I play so much it got pretty beat up.

Decided to buy the 2007 Grom cause I liked one of the color combo's. It came and was a nice bag. I liked it. But I dont think it compared to the Edge, so I ordered a 2007 Edge and sold the Grom to my neighbor.

Love the Edge, the 2007 has 1 less pocket the 2006, but it is still an awesome bag! good.gif

What in particular made the Edge better than the Grom to you? Was it something in the design, or size, etc?

Just feels and looks like a better made bag. The main reason is the External Frame. Also the Soft Grip rubber Top, that the other Ogio's don't have. And the little pocket over the Ball pocket (I keep my divot tool, small sharpies, ball markers, range tokens, and advil in it) that the other Ogio's don't have...

Maybe it is just me, but it's like you can feel the differnces that make it thier top of the line bag. And Justify the extra money spent. I paid about $70 more for the Edge than I did for the Grom (got a great deal on the Grom).

Before you go ahead and buy either bag it might be worth seaching Ogio in this site first, despite the many clever features and design they have a lot of stand issues that I can unfortunatley say I have expereinced. To start with the stand, due to poor design, never open far enough to support the bag, and after about three or four rounds the legs would not return to the closed position when carrying the bag. It was extremley irritating and the only way to fix was to move the divider for the stand spring, this meant that theelegs opened out even less and the bag fell over more often. Unfortuntaly you'll find many more people who have had similar experiences.

Thanks, I'm actually aware of that. I've searched this site and a couple others already, but never heard a direct comparison between the Grom and Edge which is why I started the thread. I'm ok with the stand, I've tried a couple in store and know of what some problems are. But from my search I also know for every one person that didn't like the stand, 2 people actually didn't have a problem. I figure it may be hit or miss, and at least there's a way to play with the stand. The reason I'm willing to take a chance is because of the features and Woode system, which I fell in love with. Not to mention the Torq strap. Although, I've been thinking of a way to Macguyver that thing and just get a Vaporlite.

I spent a few months looking at bags and got the Ogio Edge. If I play 18 at my course, I use a Rickshaw, and it works perfect with the Torq strap. Works great on a cart as well and I carry when I play 9 with no problems. I get a little tired walking 18 with the bag. If you are using a golf cart or push cart, the stand will not be an issue...I think it works fine. I would highly recommend the bag. I bought a 2006 bag on eBay for $100 less than retail and it is pretty much identical to the 2007 bag. Might as well go with the bigger bag if you are using any type of cart.
