Full Version: My Titleist x66 stand bag does the splits....

It does the splits so well I went out to the garage the other night and it had fallen over. Basically if you are over the bag, the leg to the right stays extended further than the leg on the left. Over a period of time the bag will eventually fall over. Granted, this all happens in my garage where the floor is somewhat slick. Also happens inside the house on my hardwood. Basically on any slick surface.

On the grass it's fine, as well as asphalt.

I bought the bag a couple of days after Christmas, this past Christmas. I'm inside the 1 year warranty.

QUESTION
I own a Titleist stand bag and stand mechanism broke recently. How can I get it replaced/repaired?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Acushnet Company warrants its Titleist products for a period of one year from the date of purchase against defects in materials or workmanship. Should your Titleist golf bag fail to perform for either of the above reasons, we will at our option, repair or replace it with an equivalent product at no charge.

For golf bags falling outside of the one year warranty period, Titleist will make repairs for a charge when able (stands, legs, zippers of staff & cart bags, divider padding on select models, etc.). Customers may send their golf bag to us through an authorized Titleist Golf Shop. We will inspect the bag and notify the customer with an estimate of expected repair costs. Unfortunately for those bags falling outside of the warranty period that we are unable to repair, the bag will be returned to you, in the same condition or if you authorize, we will dispose of the bag.

Should you decide to return your golf bag for repair, you may take it to any golf course or off-course golf retailer in your area that sells our products. They will be able to set up a Return Authorization through us on your behalf.

Anyone else send a bag back to them for a faulty stand? Any horror or success stories you wanna share?

I am a little hesitant to send it in since it only happens on slick surfaces, however this is where I keep my clubs. I don't want to have to lean the bag against anything for the rest of the time I keep this bag. I have a feeling that they will not replace or repair since it only happens some of the time.

My PING Hoofer never did this....

I would go to the golf shop and explain to them the problem and get their thoughts. Even if Titleist believe there is no problem with the bag they will send it back to you and you MAY have to pay for postage costs but the golf shop might be able to determine whether its worth sending the bag back. The other thing you can do is phone Titleist and ask them personally or the golf shop may even phone them for you.

Good Luck

I agree w/ Charles that you should take it where you bought it if possible or call Titleist to get a real person to give you some help.

I have an X66 I got last summer just as a light weight walk bag and noticed that the legs would spread out and get really low on my old slick kitchen floor. This was not a problem for me since I store my bags and clubs in my closet standing up in a corner and it's not a problem on the course.

I think it's a desgn flaw with the stand itself.

not sure about the x66 but i've got a 68 and it's got rubber on the bottom of the pedal and legs to prevent this type of slippage on slick surfaces and it does the job. if you can't get it fixed or replaced, maybe think about buying some rubber "feet" of some sort to put on there. you should be able to get it fixed or replaced though, i would think.

Yeah, it's got the rubber feet. Looks like little suction cups on the bottom. The stand pedal has a rubber coating too.

I wish it had the "boots" that my Sun Mountain Mini has on the legs. These look like little triangles on the bottom which are rubber coated. Since Sun Mountain makes many of the Titleist bags, maybe that will be something to look forward to on the upcoming models.

It's not like I have a ton of stuff in the bag either. Just your usual 14 clubs, 10 or so balls, tees, towel, glove, rain hood, small ziploc with meds, TP, and an extra scorecard. That's really all I keep in there. I do add a staff umbrella at times.

My experience is that it's not the feet on the legs that cause the problem, it's the plastic release paddle on the bottom of the bag that slides. Maybe some treatment on that piece could help.

I may try to see if there is a way to work on mine and I will report back.

This is why I never went away from my Hoofer. That thing takes a freaking beating sometimes.

we will dispose of the bag.

Funny.

My Mizuno bag will do the same thing on a slick surface. One of the legs just slides away and it falls over. No problem on grass or any solid lie.
