MID PINES Golf Club

I just finished playing Mid Pines Golf Club. Designed by Donald Ross in 1921, this course is now in my ALL TIME top 5! I actually thought that it was a better course than PINENEEDLES. It plays approximately 6500+ from the tips with a slope of 126. Not considered long by today's course standards, but right around the length that I like to play. It just may be one of the most aesthetically pleasing golf courses that I have ever played and I am pushing 200 courses! We stayed in the Mid Pines Hotel this weekend and the service was 1ST CLASS all the way. Actually the courses at both Pineneedles and Mid Pines were "practically empty" this weekend, which we really enjoyed. Mid Pines really has a great collection of strong holes and is a MUST PLAY if in the area or if you are simply a Donald Ross golf course disciple, like myself!

Enjoy the pics:

Thanks for the pics. I haven't played that particular course yet. But I am a huge Donald Ross fan. I love how he puts everything right out in front of you. No surprises. His courses reward good shots and punishes bad ones. No "Dye" type trickery. Nothing against Pete Dye, I love his courses also.

Great Pics. I was lucky enough to live a few miles from Pinehurst from 94-97 in (Raeford). I have played Mid-Pines a few times. I was lucky enough to play Pinehurst No.2,Talamore,The Pit, Pinehurst National, and Pine needles just to name a few. I am a big Donald Ross fan and live in Savannah, Ga where we play our city am on an original design Donald Ross course. Nice pics. Thanks again for posting. J
