My buddy from Phoenix didn't make it. Turned the front 1 under (which was not bad, with 3 GIR, but 4 putted 11 at Mak...73 won't play off there most years). I thought the greens weren't quite as fast as they've been in the past, but it's such a great course. He's not chasing the tour anymore, so a little rust was evident, but he shot 68 at Saturday's practice round....looked like we might have a chance.

I know a kid that goes to the same teaching pro i do. His name is Justin, he shot 5 under par, he is no onto the last step? Will he have a chance?

Maketewah seems like such an easy course to score on, yet I never seem to get under par there.

Pin placements are always challenging and they are always in the same place.

I have a friend who qualified for the Sectional and is making a run at the US Open by trying to qualify in Ohio. I played college golf with this guy and I talked to him the other day and he said that he is paired with Sean O' Hair. How unbelievable is that. Wow what a lifetime opportunity. We need more of those feel good stories.

That's one of the nice things about playing the qualifier at Mak...the familiarity of the pin positions. There are a lot of scoring opportunities, but I'm amazed at how consistently the line is year after year...70 or 71 is in, 71 or 72 plays off.

Looks like one of our members kids just missed out on playing off for an alternate spot in Ohio. He shot a 69 on the first round and then a 75 the second. A 73 would have got him a spot. OUCH.

Does anyone know why there were so many WDs? I know the above guy was paired with Jason Gore, but I saw that he along with quite a few other notables WD. Weird.
