Full Version: Footjoy warranty question

I've had my Contours for just over a year now I believe. They come with a 2 year water proof warranty. They are leaking because the sole/last is separating from the leather on the side near the arch of the shoe.

FJ's warranty for "quality/workmanship" states 90 days. But, they leak because of the defect in the "quality/workmanship." Kind of a Catch-22.

Anyone had any dealings with FJ on issues like this? I missed their customer service hours today and am just preparing for my conversation with them tomorrow. Thanks.

I've had too many pairs of FJ's fall apart on me. My last pair were bought at Edwin Watts. When I took them back, they told me I could send them to FJ for a (probable) full replacement, or they'd give me 1/2 off a new pair of shoes now, (equal or lesser value). I took the 1/2 off and chose Adidas and have never looked back.

That would certainly be a tempting option. Problem is, most stores around here only carry the FJ's in a wide (yeah, I'm a BigFoot.) I've been wanting to try some different brands/styles this year and have had absolutely no luck finding wides to try on. 360's look really nice, I wouldn't mind trying them but I don't want to order without trying some on.

I've never had a problem with FJ before, but I can't imagine they'd be too difficult with you. In the event you don't see some sort of positive resolution, I wouldn't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor or something.

It sounds like you should be able to get your shoes replaced.

Customer service in the golf equipment industry is usually second to none. Just remember to channel up, not down.

Same thing happened to mine after a year and half took them back into Golf Galaxy and expected them to say there is nothing we can do instead they took a brand new pair of the shelf and handed them over to me.

Big thumbs up to Golf Galaxy and their customer service!

Footjoy Customer Service is top notch. Take them back to the dealer
you got them from and I'll bet they handle it promptly and to your
satisfaction. I guess I'm pretty easy on shoes, I've probablty had over
30 pair of FJ's with no problems.

I hope that is the case for me as well. I bought mine at Golf Galaxy too. I have the box and the receipt, so hopefully all goes well. Only problem is I'll be down to one pair of shoes if they want to do the old "return to manufacturer" song and dance.

I don't know how they handle Contours, but my Classics have been in their shop since May 3. Right now, its 4 weeks. That to me is unacceptable. The soles had to be replaced because the leather was cracked. Surely these don't take four weeks of work to get them fixed. Obviously they don't or they would cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. But this is ridiculous. In this day and age, it shouldn't take more than a week to get something fixed at a manufacturer.

If it weren't for the fact that these things are so comfortable, I wouldn't put up with it.

GG sent them back to FJ about a week ago. I'm giving them another week and then I'm causing a stink. rolleyes.gif

I've been calling FJ direct every other day, and get the same story every time. 4-6 weeks for Classics right now. Maybe yours are different.

Don't sell yourself short Mr. D, you always stink! (I crack me up.)

I have Contours too. I sure hope they don't fall apart on me. It was hard enough finding a pair of shoes that fit the first time around.

I have 2 pair of Contours and love them. They haven't given me any trouble at all. I do need to replace 1 pair, not because of quality (3 years and they're still waterproof. The puddle I stepped in last week is a testament to that) but they're looking a tad beat up from being used so often. Everyone's different I guess, but I'll have no problem buying another pair.

Hope your situation gets worked out to your approval.

One month has passed. No word from Golf Galaxy. I am on hold with them right now. Grrr... russian_roulette.gif

OK..they came back. "Oh yeah...those came back a while ago. You get $48 prorated credit toward some new shoes."

I ask: Was anyone ever going to call me? No response. I hate Golf Galaxy. Slacker Central. Glad others have had better experiences with them, but they suck rocks in my neck of the woods (Minnesota, where they originated- go figure.)

I got some good news regarding my Classics that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Finally they shipped out today. They have had them since May 3. That's 47 days. A bit ridiculous, but I'll be happy to have them back finally.
