What is your favorite and least favorite show on The Golf Channel?

Favorite: The Big Break (The drama is starting to get corny tho....)

Least Favorite: The Turn (The announcers voice and all the tips are annoying!)
Bulldog
I hate Big Break re-runs...
I am starting to hate Big Break now...

Love the fitness show, and the Playing lessons from the pros...
villa
We get a lot of older stuff on the Golf Channel UK (don't know if it's the same in the States?)

Favourite: Playing lessons from the pro's (As long as it's not a senior or a lady. Or even worse, a senior lady!) I quite like What's In The Bag as well but if I watch the one with Lamkin grips again, i'm going to find Adam Barr and stick a Crossline Cord where the sun doesn't shine!

Least Favourite: Golf Channel academy. It's depressing me just thinking about it but i'll still watch it because it's golf!

Favorite: Bobby Jones: Lessons and Whats In The Bag?

Least Favorite: The Big Break and Grey Goose 19th Hole
Baller
Fav: Playing Lessons with the Pro's. I liked that whole Bobby Jones movie teaching series.

Least Fav. Golf Academy Live! and Grey Goose
moecat
Ditto on Bobby Jones. I also enjoy the overall Learning Center shows.

Ditto on not enjoying Big Break any more.
DavidR
I enjoy the Big Break...the re-runs get annoying though. I also like the playing lessons from the pros...not so much to hear the lessons just to see how they setup and play in a relaxed environment.

I hate all the informercials...after all, there is someone playing golf somewhere that I'm sure is being taped.
mljones99
Favorite: What's in the Bag? and the Big Break (not re-runs)

Least Favorite: Everything else... the Golf Channel has horrible programming.
tbowles411
Favorite(s): What's in the Bag, The Turn, 19th Hole
Least: Any BB rerun
rufus mangler
I like the Classic re-runs. (Masters, US, British Opens, etc.) Playing Lessons is also good.

I can't really watch anything else on there.
Golf472
Favorite: Fitness Academy, Tournaments, Golf Central, Pregame, Postgame
Worst: The Turn, Approach
wedgetoafoot
The best is WITB

The Approach is the absolute worst. I hate it with a passion.
Charlie_Foxtrot
Favorites: PGA coverage; LPGA coverage; Big Break

Least Favorites: The Approach; Grey Goose 19th Hole; Inga Hammond
Grimace45
Favorites: Playing Lessons from the Pros and The Big Break

Least: The Approach
timcrane78
Favorite: Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, Big Break, Golf Central, What's in the Bag.

Least Favorite: same old boring informicals about training aid, perfect gym, etc. Some of the club informical are not that bad.

Suggestions: Bring back Shell's Wonderful World of Golf again with some new matches.
Tenementrock
"Playing Lessons" is almost always interesting, no matter who's the pro. Need more of these episodes.

"The Approach", "The Turn", "19th Hole" - insufferably lame, they're time-fillers and border on being infomercials.

I always thought Academy Live is a mess, too much swing information attempted to be fit into a neat, digestible format. I don't think it's really helpful to golfers. "Playing Lessons" is where you can get some real insight from bona fide golf experts.

Most enjoy: Playing Lessons from the Pros

Least enjoy: Everything else on Golf Channel
MrMom
Favorite: Tournaments (mainly the PGA, and European Tours)
Worst: Turn, Approach, WITB (Adam Barr has turned into just a product schill)

someone else also mentioned this in a previous thread:
The old Monday lineup was very good. The golf channel Accademy was great. I think that type of programming is sorely missed.

Also the interview show that Peter Kesler hosted was good. Gave good in site to what players were like.

Now it is all product infomercials, golf(this has been very good), and reality shows. Need to get back to a little of the old programming IMHO.
pitch
Most is playing lessons.
Least is 19th hole, mostly because of Steve the idiot.

I just wish they had enough money and programming to avoid the infomercials and reruns. I'd rather see old tournament footage.

I liked that show too, It was called Golf Talk Live. Kessler is a great interviewer.
Monday was your game night and I really liked the live instruction. After seeing Brian Mogg, I flew to Orlando to take lessons from him.

Golf Central is pretty good

Grey Goose 19th hole is awful....Is it just me or does Steve think that his turds are made of gold????? black eye.gif

Gotta love the old shells matches, and bobby jones stuff is priceless....

I like the Golf Channel Classics...
sergizmo
I'm with a lot of you guys: Shell's WWOG, Bobby Jones, Classic highlights, and Playing Lessons From the Pros are the only things worth watching. Oh yeah, LPGA and Euro Tour coverage as well.

Everything else is terrible.
daughterscameron

I like the golf COVERAGE, just golf. And Stephanie Sparks!!! man_in_love.gif
Who's the guy in the BOWTIE, he's an idiot. And Inga Hammond. scare2.gif
I didn't like her when she was on our local news here, and now she's doing
golf? drinks.gif
Big D McGee
Heh, I am definitely in the minority, 'cause the only things I WON'T watch are the "Best Ever" and Shell series.

I like The Approach, Top 10, Golf Central, WITB, 19th Hole, Playing Lessons (and even better, "Personal Lessons") The Turn and especially the pre- and post-game shows.

And I LOVE Inga Hammond. I think she's HOT. Much better looking than Tighlman or West. wink.gif
Konrad
Inga Hammond's facial expressions are the worst. I want Shell's WWOG back! Now!
PMoretz
Favorite: Playing Lessons from the Pros, What's in the Bag, and Champions Tour Learning Center.

Least Favorite: Any of the Big Breaks.

I really wish they would go back to their "Your Game Night" on Mondays like they had last year. I also enjoy watching the European Tour on TGC.
memphishorn
Favorites- Playing Lessons, Shell's WWOG, Thursday & Friday tounament golf (prime time), WITB w/ Adam Barr, Live From at Majors, Your Game Night.

Least Favorite- Approach, The Turn, Inga Hammond, infommercials, Dave Marr and the Couch

I was into the first several Big Breaks but it has now run it's course and I miss Golf Talk Live
Golfchicago
Fav Shell's wonderful world of golf.It is cool to watch some of the old greats and see how far they hit it.

Least fav Any BB. If they don't have anyone on that is controversal, the show is absolutely boring. They need the antics of a Double D to make it fun. That is pathetic.
sync71
Favorites: Playing Lessons from the Pros, WITB, Shells wonderful world of golf, old major coverage

Least Favorite: BB re-runs and infomercials (I know there nessecary but they just get really annoying)
uga_fan
Favorites: Shells WWOG, Playing lessons with the pros, Big Break (although I think they could get it done in half the shows), Euro coverage.

Least favorites: Kelly Tilghman, Grant Boone, The Approach, All of the blasted infomercials, and that for a whole month in Dec./Jan. (i cannot remember) I have to watch nothing but Tiger.
Fitzpatrick
Favorites: Bobby Jones, Playing & Personal Lessons, What's in the Bag (most of the time), tournament coverage (PGA, LPGA, Champions, et al), and classic tournament coverage.

Least Favorites: The Approach (why, honestly, did TGC feel it was necessarily to create an argument every week between the "numbers guy" and the former player?), Infomercials (from the unsavory shouting of the Hammer commercials to the pseudo-spiritual experience of the Bobby Jones hybrids), Inga Hammond (seriously, how much Botox can a human face take?), and The Turn (I refuse to watch any show that gives David Leadbetter airtime)

pitchmaster1224
have to concur with a lot of you guys Inga is really annoying and the Approach with Callaway Golf needs to be put down...bring back Shell's Wonderful World of Golf and Golf Talk Live with Peter Kessler!
DeNinny
Favorite - Playing Lessons from the Pros

Least Favorites - Champions Tour Learning Center ('cause of that Hall guy...terrible at interviewing) & the Turn ('cause of those two guys that try to one-up each other constantly...worse than NBA on TNT).
beachgrovejunior
favorite-Titleist fitness academy, WITB, Playing lessons from the pros

least favorite-The turn, Champions tour learning center

Yeah, that's the show I meant, not the Turn. Those two guys have the worst "staged" arguments ever.
wei_c25
I think the programming has gotten much much better in the past year since they got the PGA coverage rights.

The Turn and Approach are not must see TV, but I like watching it. The production values are so much nicer than watching Brian Mogg, Dave Pels, or Jim Mclean try to do TV. Yes, they are great instructors, but horrible on TV, absolutely painful to sit there and watch.

Favorites besides PGA Tour: Playing Lessons from the pros (no seniors please), Golf Central/Primetime, LPGA, European Tour, Jim Flick

Least Favorite: Big Break when they bring in NFL or MLB or Nascar players who stink, anything with Jim McLean

Oh, I like the Celebrity Big Breaks. It's nice to know that millionaires with all the time in the world to work on their golf games still suck as bad as me.
golf9596
My favorite is Playing lessons with the pros, and I enjoyed "Its your game night" on Monday. I think reruns of Big Break 1-7 are enough to make me like Soccer, LOL...........
dlygrisse
Like: Tour coverage, golf central and Playing Lessons

Dislike: The Approach and the big break

Miss: Golf Talk Live, Academy Live, Shell's
toddnt
Playing lessons is the best and the worst are the infomercials.....Way too many.

She talks like Shaun Connery would if he was a she. My wife and I can't listen to her....
parpar41
can anyone explain an Inga Hammon?

the biggest liability on TGC, IMHO

On a positive note, I atually like "Central" and the "19th hole"

Watching tiger win the '94, '95 and '96 amateur was great TV.

Real Sean Connery or SNL Celebrity Jeopardy Sean Connery?
joecollege
I dig Inga, but I fell off the barstool when I read your Botox crack. Priceless!

man_in_love.gif
David D
Ha! All these Inga cracks are awesome. That lady gives my wife and I the creeps. Every time she's on I make it a point to get my wife to look. The Approach is kind of like a car wreck...I can't help but watch just to see how weird Inga is.

Best: Playing Lessons, Bobby Jones, LPGA, Supplemental PGA
Worst: Pretty much the rest of it.

Pars Win!
Golf talk live was very good. I'm tired of hearing all the talking heads. I'd like some more long format interview shows.
