I am considering buying a sun mountain rainflex short sleeve pullover and pants. Does anyone have any experience with this item? Is it as good as advertised?

Very interesting timing of your question. I have had a pair of ranflex paints for a few months and have not worn them until yesterday. Unfortunately, it did not rain but was breezy early and there was a chance of showers. They are very comfortable and I really like them.
In the afternoon, I went to a specialty sporting goods store and they had a white half sleeve shirt on sale, about $30 less than advertised. I bought it.

Their rain gear is the best hands down in my opinion......
It keeps you dry and is very, very easy to swing in. What more do you need? Their jackets don't bunch up and are not as thick and bulky as footjoy either. I have a full length and short sleeve jacket and couldnt be happier.

Interestingly enough I got a short sleeve rain shirt and it got one heck of a workout in Scotland since it rained HARD two straight days at Turnberry.

As mentioned, it does a great job of keeping wind and rain out, but mine is still new. The durability of the material will have to be seen. Also the range of motion is really great the material does move with you very well and is very quiet. Once you throw the shirt on you really do forget it's there. One really nice feature is the snug collar which keeps water out without being restrictive. It's also extremely breathable, but that can also be attributed to the fact that it's a short sleeve rain shirt.

There's one big issue if you're expecting to use this in cold weather, this is a knit material, so in hard rain it has no durable water repellent finish. This means that rain water can soak into the fabric and it can feel very cold especially if the wind blows. It still keeps you dry, but it does feel cold unless you're wearing long sleeves. If you're frequently playing in cold weather, I'd stick with traditional nylon stuff.

I'll write up a full review once I get back into town.

Yes - they are good, quiet and move with you. The rainflex does work to keep you dry -- In the long sleeve, the closures at the wrist will get wet and are not the rain-flex material -- I wish they had gone with ZR type cuffs.

But if you are going short sleeve, you don't have that issue -- I have a long and short sleeve. A word of advice -- if you lift any weights at all and have some shoulders -- try on one size larger -- I am normally a large but the large felt slightly restricted in the SM gear - I don't lift heavy weight -- not more than 100 pounds but I've done it somewhat consistently so I have a little shoulder buildup. I went with the X Large and it works like a charm -- plenty of room.

I am trying to find the pants on sale for this winter.

The great thing about the Rainflex is that is makes a great lightweight windshirt -- I've used my Rainflex a lot -- but only once in the rain -- the rest of the time has been for wind protection -- so it is versatile.

I have the long-sleeve rain jacket and it's really nice. It's comfortable and keeps me dry so I can't really complain. It doesn't make and noise either. The only downside is how lightweight it is. Anyone know of a similar jacket that's a bit heavier for those cold/rainy days?

You might try Mizuno -- they have a cotton windsweater that is great! You can layer it under your Rainflex.

You can also layer a Mizuno Lite Weight Mock underneath (Layer 1)
