Has anybody organized a corporate tournament? I may have an impressive array of sponsors if attracted in the proper way.I may already have found a hole-in-one sponsor for a mazda car.

Are there any special tactics in attracting sponsors? Participants? Do any of you know any "mini-games" that have special prizes?

It's my first time and it's a major marketing outing for our company.

Not to get your hopes down, but a friend of mine has organized a tournament series here in Germany and it wasn't as easy as he thought. It's a series of 8 tournaments all over Germany benefitting a diabetes society.
Most courses were quite easy to get to host the tourneys with reduced greensfees and so, but with prizes that's a whole other ballpark. He asked the major retail chain for golf equipment for some clubs or shirts as prizes....zip. Said they couldn't do it...and that's for a tournament for a good cause.

Also for that car as a hole-in-one prize...ever heard of the amateur status? ;-)
No just kidding, whoever gets the ace will probably screw amateur status.

Normally you should post each a longest drive and closest to the pin on one hole for extra prizes.

Actually there is an exception in the USGA rules regarding amateur status and hole-in-one prize amounts...not sure about the R&A rules.

3-2. Prize Limits

a. General
An amateur golfer must not accept a prize (other than a symbolic prize) or prize voucher of retail value in excess of $750 or the equivalent, or such a lesser figure as may be decided by the USGA. This limit applies to the total prizes or prize vouchers received by an amateur golfer in any one competition or series of competitions.

Exception: A prize for a hole-in-one made while playing golf may exceed the above prize limit.

rule 3.2a exception has been changed to allow a prize for hole in 1 of any value clapping.gif clapping.gif clapping.gif

The R&A does allow a limit of 500GBP for total prizes for a given player. A hole-in-one prize may be up to 500GBP extra, but no more (3.2b). So you USGA afiliates are definitely in the pole position there!

The biggest two questions are:

1. who is paying for greens fees, the players or your company?

2. what golf course or style (public, private, resort)?

If you give us some insight on these I may be able to help.

1.My company is paying for everything.

2.It is a private course.

If you have access to a longdriver( wink.gif ) you can have him put on a demo or have him hit drives for the groups on a par 5(with a donation for charity) or bid for his services for the round(proceeds to charity)
