Taking a look at some of the specs on old clubs made by Titleist and TaylorMade, leads me to ask why the lie angle on irons and woods has increased quite a bit along with the length of new clubs?

New 3 woods with lie angles 5 degrees more upright and an inch longer than the old days, what's up with that?

New irons with stupidly strong lofts, inch longer shafts, and 2 or 3 degree more upright lie angles?

I'm 5'10", which is a pretty average height for a male, and find that longer shafts and more upright lie angles hurt me more than help. I have cut my irons down 0.25" so the 5 iron plays at 37.5".

Shouldn't lie angles have decreased instead of increased if clubs are comparitively longer than they used to be?

Sorry about the rant! wink.gif
