I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to everyone here. I am new to the forum, but have learned quite a bit so far.
My question is about tour bags. Why are they SO large?? What gear needs to be carried in them that neccesitates such a large amount of storage space?
Anyway, I just started playing golf last year and have broke 100 a few times. Not great, but I am happy with my progression so far.
Thanks everyone,
Alex

Welcome to the site mate, keep up the hard work.
Tour bags are large for one reason, Marketing.
They're designed to get noticed on tour to advertise a particular brand or product.
No-one really needs a tour bag. If you're going to use a trolley or cart then a cart bag is far more practical but you'll soon see on this site that not many of us are particularly practical so tour bag it is!

you would be suprised what is in the bag, especially in inclement weather, when i caddied at a tour spot there were the following items inside.rainsuit, backup shirt, socks, sixpack of gloves, dozen balls,rangefinder,sweater/vest,lunch for him not me,mini first aid kit,pda/day planner, and if he could have fit them a back up pair of shoes. probably would have been better off wheeling a club glove bag..
