I am a member at Holly Tree in Greenville and really like the course and the guys I have met there. Out of curiosity, wondering if anyone knows any info on Greenville CC, there dues, environment, etc etc.

i was a manager for a lowe's store in greenville in the 80's. chanticlear course and i am not sure if i spelled it right was at one time rated in the top 100 courses in the USA. i was told that if u dont know a member rather well. u dont have a chance of getting on. i did sell some house packages in that area and got to see the course or one of them that is. really nice place. not as nice as the masters but nice. i was told that if you didnt have a 7 figure bank account that u more or less wouldnt get invited to be a member. i lived there 7 years.

I was lucky enough to play the Chanticleer course a couple of times in college and law school-almost 30 yrs ago. Chanticleer is awesome. Impossible to find. You think you are turning into someone's driveway when you go in. What a great, great track. When I was there the clubhouse was a small building with a grill room and facilities. There was a cart barn with an assistant pro who sold golf balls. That was it. Golf only course. All the amenities are at the other course, or were. I repeat, wow, what a setup.

Nice to see some Greenville experiences. I went to Bob Jones U. and got kicked out for drinking and finished up at Furman. Sorry to go off topic!

Initiation fee is around $28000 as I remember. I looked into joining last summer when they were running a special. Monthly dues are in the 450 range.
I played Chanticleer last year and it was an awesome course. A real treat. Very very tough. Never played riverside. I hear it is much easier.

I live near both courses. Chanticleer is an awesome course. Riverside is being redone right now. I think Brian Silva is doing it. I don'tknow if that is a good thing or not. The course I grew up on in Charlotte is being redone right now, 9 years after Silva redid it.
I think it's kind of overkill to say that you have to have a 7 figure bank account to get into the country club. I know plenty of members there, and they don't necesarily have millions of dollars.
In terms of pure country clubs (not including resort courses like Pinehurst) it's probably in the top 3 of country clubs in all of the Carolinas in regards to the facilities and courses.
