QUOTE
Many companies have a policy requiring top executives to travel on private planes for security reasons. They also say these excursions, while primarily to play golf, frequently also have a business purpose. Still, the report gave as an example the private jets of one company that landed in Augusta, Ga., 165 times over the last four years. The jets of another company had flown to Augusta 55 times since late 2001. (Perhaps they are big fans of city native James Brown.)

While the Journal used scores from ghin.com to raise questions about corporate spending practices, the website can also be a fun way to kill a couple hours. You can find out, for example, that PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem is a 4.4 handicap at TPC at Sawgrass but hasn't posted a score there since 2001. Finchem is a 4.9 at Florida's Pablo Creek GC, where he plays most of his rounds. Annika Sorenstam's father, Tom, is a 7.7, and her mother, Gunilla, is a 12.5. Florida governor and first brother Jeb Bush is an 11.0 at Capital City CC in Tallahassee. Morgan Pressel is a +4.6 and Michelle Wie is a +6.8. (Wow! They should think about turning pro!)
