Great episode last night. They are finally realizing that we want to see some golf. DD was great. Yelling after the putt was definitly encouraged by the producers. I don't want to hear about the ball thing. Phil did the same thing a few years back but he was yelling at fans who found the ball. I think we can all admit now that DD can play some golf. First hole with a piped drive then the 20 footer. Then hitting the pin to 2 feet after the lost ball (ended up not helping them, but that was a nice shot).
Overall i like what they're doing with more real golf and less gimmicks.

Let's discuss.
Teetogreen86
Not only hitting the pin, hitting the pin on the fly with a damn 5 wood! That's impressive. I don't care if you love or hate him, it was a great shot. I've met Don in person on a few occasions and he's a really good guy IMO. I think some of that stuff he did was definetely encouraged by the producers. Everyone seems to dislike Don because of his passion and enthusiasm. But would you watch a show like this where everyone just hit their shots and had no reaction? I doubt it. You would complain about it being boring. But then you have guys like Don who are really enthusiastic about the game and no one likes him either. So which is it?

(this post was directed at the general public, not nochct. i agree with what nochct said)

Eddie had the best sound bite. It was spliced in without video....

"I 'ate dat guy!"

Kyle is probably right. I would like to think that the producers have alot to do with his behavior. At least the behavior on this one. On BB2 he was a space cadet more than anything. Last night he was obnoxious.

Can't wait for the "behind the scenes" show tonight. I usually don't watch it, but tonight I will just to see the Euros reaction to DD.

Sad to see Eddy go. My two favorite Euros left were Eddy and Warren. Warren's dry sense of humor kills me.

best part was when eddie says " shut up and hit the ball" lol

oh and i thought it was TM rescue that he used to hit the shot that hit the flag stick.

I'm pretty sure it was a 5 wood. TJ used the rescue for a tee shot.

Good show last night, nice to see the US step it up a bit. That was a nice drive 2-glove hit even though it found the greenside bunker. The lost ball incident was humorous!

DD might have some game but he is one irritating SOB.

Is it just me or does it seem like the producers are making the U.S. guys seem like idiots? Right from the start they started painting a picture of the Americans as arrogant dip$hits and the Euros as calm, collected, non-confrontational...players. Maybe its just me being overly sensitive.
DemolitionMan
That was the first episode I watched of BB4 only because TGC did a good job of promo'g it wuth the comeback of Mr. Obnoxious. It was a great first half, the elimination challenge was back to same old boring BB stuff we have seen before.

I was kind of surprised that the Euros did not hit better shots to the green in the wind. It's not like they have never played in those conditions. On the other hand, why be surprised, there is a reason they are on BB4 and it has less to do with their golf skills than personality.

I was wondering what shaft TJ had in his rescue. Looked to me like it was painted red, white and blue.

It's not you, it's just the unimaginative producers playing up the stereotypes that create automatic controversy and ratings. Who could resist? I am sure at the end, they will all be friends. The Euros will think these Americans are not half bad, and the Americans will think, I can get used to warm beer. Whatever......

If the match was here (and God help us BB5 is not the rematch on U.S. soil), it would be the Euros coming over here to reclaim their pedigree on golf and the Americans acting like Euros can't play on US courses.

You would think one of these days the themes would get old. The Int'l golfers made up over half the top 20 at Harding which is pretty much the same breakdown of the World Golf Rankings. So it's safe to say, if you can golf, you can play just about anywhere, no need to fan the flames of national (or in this case continental) pride.

wife and i both love show. reality junkies. You know like watching NASCAR for the wrecks.

and DD was a wreck... man, he kills me. Wonder if he's ever watched the show and said man is that ME?

Paul is a player, think he wins it...
Randle and Dave - Come on PRO hit the shot cheesy.gif want randle gone next
Tommy two gloves, what a nice surprise biggrin.gif the man can play.

warrens is a player too, think he and paul are in finals. But as thomas said hadn't made a misstep and could be leaving...

I a funny note. I saw Edorado Gardino at the WGC at Harding Park this last weekend caddying for Angel Cabrera. We all gave him a hard time about being on the Big Break. It is funny that he was eliminated on this weeks show. It would have been great if we knew this as the WGC. He would have never heard the end of it.

Overall, he appeared to be kind of shy about the attention. He also is very short.

That's what it looked like to me.

Anyone know when the series was filmed? We know that Eddy was caddying for Cabrera last week and at the President's Cup. We've also read on these forums that "Two Gloves" has been tearing it up on the local scene in South Carolina. I wonder when the filmed the series. Obviously it was after the 2005 Masters since some of the trivia questions were asked in last week's show.
abewley
mid june.. around fathers day.... they chronicled this in last weeks show.
sergizmo
Warren looked a little shaky last night, which kind of surprised me.

DD was his usual self. Yes he can play, but yelling at the Euros for looking for his ball was lame. And when they find it, he disputes a clearly written rule. Showing emotion after sinking a big putt is fine, but the whole lost/provisional ball incident reflected very badly on DD.

I wish this "T.J. Valentine" character would shut his piehole. I guess there's always a loudmouth in every group, sadly.

As others have mentioned - DD is a train wreck. diablo.gif Man, that guy needs a sedative (or someone to open up a good can of Whuup-A**) on him.

hahah i was so happy to see DD. He is annoying but wildly entertaining and makes for great tv. I loved it when he got mad at the Euros for loooking for his ball

Well, I heard that Two Gloves took some $$$ from a Golfwrx member few days ago but that's no biggie deal since both of them are playing in PGA Q-school this week. Hope both of them do very well along with a friend of mine's(Brad Bruno) that I know he and those 2 guys can make it.

Anyone see last nights episode? Tommy took a walk.... too bad he was fun to watch. At least he kept a good attitude about it.

Anyone know how he's doing in Q-school?

I don't think Tommy 2 made it through the 1st round of Q school. The only BB'er so far to have advanced is Justin Peters from BB1.
TheLastDon
To answer the question, no the grandstands are not maintained there year round. I went to St. Andrews a couple years back in the spring (April) and there were no grandstands at the time.

Feel bad that Two Gloves left, although I'd have felt worse if he had put his approach shot through Old Tom's shop window!!!
clevelandballer1028
Tommy Two Gloves did make it through the first stage of Q-School, in played at Florence Country Club in Florence, South Carolina. He finished in eigth place (out of the 21 that made it). He shot: 73-70-70-66 - 279 (-1).

Article here: Golf Week

Hope he plays well in the next couple stages!

Yeah, I am wishing him the best aswell! The course must have been a pretty tough track, because I have seen a couple locations (one which a WRX member played in), that 8 or 9 under didn't get it! A couple over got in here. Anyways great playing T2G, and best of luck to you in the next couple stages, what a cinderella story that would be drinks.gif

I would like to see Marty win. There is just something about him that I like. I think it might be the 'working man' accent like Michael Caine.

i stopped watching the big break after the second episode of the first season... there's no way in hell that any of those guys should receive any kind of tournament exemptions... guys that like are a dime a dozen... for ever guy on tour there are 5000 guys who "have game"... people just dont understand how good those tour guys really are...

After Tommy went to the Van De Velde suite, Bart mentioned that "you got to play St. Andrews two weeks before the Open". I am not sure which open he was referring to, but I would think they only had the grandstands because of the upcoming Open.

You're right. I saw Tommy at Kannapolis CC this year and he did not make it out of first stage, however he has been to finals before.

Tommy can play with anyone but the rest of that cast is suspect at best.

The whole show SUCKS!!!! Playing for Mulligans!!! President Clinton should be playing in this thing ask that guy KIP if they gave him any Mulligans in the events he played in.

Stupid crap play GOLF!!! anyone that played tournament golf would know there is more to the game than this show brings out!!! You can be lucky and not real lucky and win.

For get the match play and Mulligans and play serious golf I don't care if they have a par 3 contest but count everything.
cmckelvmi
I for one like the gimmicks and challenges. It would be much better if they were using Pros like Tiger, Vijay, JD etc. We can watch "real" golf all day on the Golf Channel.
TheHomez
Anybody watch the new episode tonight? I thought it was pretty good and some impressive shots were made. It was nice to see them play some more 'real' golf.

And just out of curiosity does anybody know the rating or slope of the Carnoustie course that they are playing? Looks like a challanging course, but maybe thats just to a newbie like myself.
illinikyle
The three holes that they played in tonight episode looked REALLY easy. I understand the the wind was blowing and the rough is long, but come on...short iron into a par five...sand wedge par 3...and a drive and pitch par four. You gotta get those done in par or better to be at the tour level. fool.gif

ps ~ I Love The Show!!!
3jackanono
Making double from the middle of the fairway on a par 4 with a wedge in your hand and no hazards between you and the green! You deserve to go home after that puke fest...
BridgestoneKevin
yeah, they must have been playing from the ladies tees or somthing, because none of those guys are very long at all. the american capt. took a 2 iron hybrid and was still only 90 yards away on a par 4.... They were talking about driving the green? they better not think thats how the euro tour will be like.
Placebo
Didn't they say the par 5 was 500 yards? Then one of the second shots was like 180 in so that would equate to a 320 yard drive! Yup, had to be from the ladies tee's.

With a wind at their back that looked like it was at least 15-20 mph. It was really blowing, and blowing with them on all 3 holes.
Joe Peel
Making a double on the par 4, was pure choke. He chose a 60 degree from 70 yards in the wind (should have used a run shot), really choke, with no confidence. shout.gif

Um no, in general they are not very good.

Tommy is good and is 1st or 2nd on the Gateway tour in the Carolinas, but his swing is horrendous.

The Europens are much better than the Americans, although none of them are anything special. Guy does however have one of the best swings ever in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing that they didn't seem to be that great, but wasn't sure if it was my lack of golf knowledge.

But I don't get it, if they aren't good why have them come on the show, offer them a tour exemption, and a Bridgestone contract?
