I bet this topic has been made into polls before, but just for the sake of redundancy, what do length shafts u guys use in ur drivers? I dont have much experience with shorter lengths and I simply use the standard 45 inch factory setting. Is there a notable difference in distance? How much firmer can a shaft become after lets say a half inch cut? Is the weight change significant?

I play a 44.5 inch driver. I'm thinking of having a inch cut off to have more control.

This experiment was based on "my" swing characteristic only. I'd a Diamana shafted to an Alpha Reaction V2 400cc 8.5* at 45". I was only able to hit the sweet spot 60% of the time. I then trimmed it down to 44.5" and was able to hit the sweet spot 75% of the time. It would be ideal to hit the sweet spot 90% to 100% but I just don't have that "swing consistency." My current driver is an Alpha Reaction C830.2 SP700 Ti face shafted to an AD M-65(x) 44.5" and again, 75* to 80* contact with the sweet spot. I'm "anal" with data (Fairway, GIR, chips, putts, etc.)

Well, you are "acrazygolfer" so I'd almost expect some craziness from you. biggrin.gif

I use a 45" driver right now, but will probably reshaft at 44.25" like usual. The swingweight does start to get a little light once you get shorter than 44".

48"...max allowable. Occassionally miss the fairway by 100 yards but hey, it goes a loooooooong way bb.gif

45" in everyone I have. Sounds like I should experiment.
