We are going over for the Masters and are staying in Covington and wanted to play golf Saturday. What are some good courses close to the area? Thanks

I am not sure if Reynolds Plantation is private or not but it is supposed to be really nice. They also have a TaylorMade fitting facility there.

This is in Conyers, about 15 minutes west of Covington. I have played it a lot. It is a good course.

I second a vote for Cherokee Run, great course and great service.

A third vote for Cherokee Run. Used to be a member there. They usually have the greens in great shape and rolling lightning fast for masters week. The only drawback is that the bunkers usually need work ;and, if you can get around in less than 4.5hrs, you are lucky. I would not play Indian Creek or The Oaks (also courses in Covington). You would probably be disappointed.

WOW!! I just checked a local teetimes website to check on times for Saturday and they are charging $100 to play. russian_roulette.gif With fees in that range, I might just run down I-20 a bit and play one of the Reynold's courses

I made a time at Indian Creek, what makes it a disapointing course? Thanks

Played both the Oaks and Cherokee Run. Oaks was ok, like a decent muny. Cherokee's worth the splurge in my book, all the ATL rates go up on weekends, and it's an easy drive.

It is just not my cup of tee. First off, the course is relatively narrow. It is also a pretty short course where you may find yourself hitting long irons off the tees (including two par 5's, #10, #17). Ocassionally they have trouble with the greens; but with the great weather we have been having, I doubt that would be an issue right now. At the end of the day, some people will like it...some will not. I just find it a less than inspiring tract. You will to walk off of the 18'th green and go....wow, that was a great course.
