Went by the annual San Mateo Golf Expo today...here's my thoughts.

1) First and foremost, saw Eddie Merrins speak. Pretty cool to see a legendary teacher talk about the swing, fundamentals, and the game in general. Nothing earth-shattering, but picked up a ball position tip, and it was money at the driving range tonight. Simplist thing sometimes. BTW, they are selling Mr. Merrins' video collection for $60, a pretty good deal. The steal is buying the video puts you in a drawing for a playing lesson at Bel Air Country Club with Mr. Merrins and lunch at the club. Awesome!

2) Tons of manufactures as usual letting you try out their stuff. As an official Titleist Hoe, I was disappointed to not see them there, but not surprised; they never do shows. Was hoping to get a sneak peek at the D1 and D2. Just have to wait...

3) Many manufactures there schlepping their swag. My favorite is the Golf Lab guys. Great deals on Driver and club fittings for the show. Check it out.

Overall, worth the $7 for parking and the $8 for admission (get the $2 coupon online). A word of caution...I saw the the 4 Wheel Parts Truckfest is there Sat-Sun. I think it is in the same building, on the other side of a curtain. Didn't stop the roar of engines as they got it set up today. Quiet please, trying to hit here!

Anyone else go this year? Your thoughts?

I went also. The price is definately worth it since you can get two free rounds at Mountain House Golf Course and a free subscription to golf magazine. I agrree, seeing Eddie Merrins was awsome and the Bridgestone ball test was cool, got a free two pack of B-330s

It's only this weekend. There is one in the Fall in the East Bay.

I usually go, it's usually a waste of time other than the 1-2 freebies. So this year I am not missing much by being in LV this weekend.
