Hey guys, I was hoping you could give me a little assistance. I will be coming to Ohio (Columbus) for a couple of weeks, from 2/26 - 3/9. I work for Nationwide Insurance and will be attending a training class there. Are there any good golf shops? Indoor practice facilities? Any cool golf stops in the area I should check out? I am pretty sure the weather will not allow me to play, but the sticks will be with me just in case. I just don't want to be bored out of my mind for a couple weeks there, so any help would be appreciated!!

No really good golf shops, just the usual golf galaxy and golfsmith. Golfsmith can put your through a launch monitor session for fun. There's Ables golf on Avery Rd. out past tuttle mall. It's a driving range with heated stalls so you can at least get some swings in during this foul weather. Same set up at a range up off of Riverside Dr. towards Dublin, and they have a nice restaurant/pub on site, but the range isn't as nice. There's also an iindoor golf sim. place called Tee'd up indoor golf off of 23/270N, its quite a bit of fun but a little pricey $30 bucks for 18 which takes bout an hour per person. Otherwise you're pretty much SOL in C'bus during Feb.

Oh yeah, if your into Scotty's YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GO TO TABLE ROCK GOLF COURSE. It's a little s***hole muni outside of town but that guy may have the single best collection of Scotty's for sale in the entire U.S. I feel like I'm in a museum when I'm up there.

There is a dome close to the Easton Mall area that has a unique fitting system called the Fit Chip. Look it up at fitchip.com, I think. I went through it a few weeks ago. The idea is that nothing else matters but getting the club to square at impact. Based on your release vs max shaft unloading a frequency is recommended. They have various head and shaft cpm options to try. A one club ( driver) fitting is around $20 I think. A buddy of mine that lives there has had a few clubs done and he is killing it. Me, on the other hand, am trying to accept the fact that FitChip thinks I should be at 292CPM for a 44.5" driver. I only have a 98 MPH swing speed. I may still have them shaft my driver to find out.

By the way there are two Golfsmiths in Columbus and a Golf Galaxy

Good luck

Thanks, guys, I appreciate it, and I WILL be checking out Table Rock, but leaving all my cash and credit at the hotel.

The Dome is the way to go! I think there are two, one near Broad and Hamilton and another in the Dublin area.

There three or four smalled golf shops up in the same area ( just south) of the golf galaxy.

Into putters Table Rock!

Into build your own? Approximately 45 min east is "the Golf Works", which is now part of golf galaxy.

Columbus is a dead zone this time of year. I wouldn't even bother taking the clubs. I have avoided training there at all costs going on 4 years.

One thing you should do in Columbus (especially this time of the year when you can't play) is visit the Nicklaus Museum on the Ohio State campus.

Give yourself a couple of hours. It's very cool with lots of artifacts, short films, etc. I can't believe his mom kept as much stuff as she did when he was a kid.

Info's at: http://www.nicklausmuseum.org/

As a fellow employee.

Only one dome - other side of town.
Table Rock is fun.

Tee'd up indoor golf is a good way to spend some time. They do have leagues in the evening.

If you are into Hockey at all we do have a Team. If you like college basketball, the #2 men's basketball team may be in town.

2 golf galaxys and 2 golfsmith.

I am assuming you are going to be at the NorthPoint compex.

PM me if you would like some more information. I am born and raised in Columbus.

Definitely check out the Nicklaus museum. Seeing all Jacks majors trophies along with White Fang is worth the trip alone. Definitely a good way to blow off a Saturday afternoon.
