I have a PING Fitment bag that is 12.5" across so needless to say it is a huge bag, I would like to get a hard travel case for when I am taking my clubs on the plane or shipping them ahead via UPS to my destination. So my big question is which ones are large enough? Like I said I would like a hard case, but a soft case if good enough would do the job. Thanks for the help.

My Ogio Monster is large enough for any bag. I have used it twice with no problems. Lots of padding, well made. Cheaper then the ClubGlove of the same size.

Most Tour Pros use the Club Glove Last Bag XXL.

While hardcases offer a ton of protection, they are difficult to fit in rental cars and/or cabs, they are difficult to store at hotels or even at home. For the size bag you are describing, the "hard" bag would be huge. i don't recall any that size.

If you really want a hardcase, i would go with a smaller bag.


BUT - I KNOW most touring pros - who must protect their "tweaked" equipment use a soft case. If you take proper precautions, you can minimize the chance of damaged clubs.
1. Quality soft bag
2. stiff arm (real or self made)
3. wrap clubheads in towel

Ya you are right, looks like a soft bag is going to be the only option, have gotten away with driving to anywhere I am playing, but this year I will have no other option but flying.

I've had a club Glove Last Bag for 8 years. Never a problem. Use the stiff arm!

Before that I was buying a new travel cover every 2 years or so because the broke or got torn up.

If I do the math the Club Glove has more then paid for itself over the last 8 years. But by the looks of it I may get another 8 years!

What is the "Stiff Arm" ?

Most of your clubs are roughly the same the lenght. If you tie them together with the bag at the bottom and a towel at around the heads, the almost form one thick "tree" and thus they become very resistant to damage.

The weak link in this strategy is are the woods and especially the driver. They tend to stick up exposed to possible damage. ClubGlove realized they could add protection by building "stiff arm" that would be longer then the driver. Because of its lenght, it will take the shock of things dropped on top of your sticks or if your sticks are dropped upside down - head first - on something hard.

Their solution is adjustible and called the "stiff arm." It costs about $25.

I went to Home Depot, had them cut down a broomstick 1" longer then my driver, and have my own "stiff arm" for 20% of the cost.

The Club Glove Burst Proof with Wheels #2 is the best by far. I use this bag with the stiff arm and have no worries about anything getting damaged.

I had a Burstproof and it worked great. I used it 2-4 times per year including an overseas trips with no incidents. I got rid of it b/c I found it to small to carry my bag and all the stuff I ended up needing to pack to/from my destination.

With the Monster, i have enough room for small car. It seems well made and has done the job on 2 trips without incident. I do recommend it and I save a lot of money over the ClubGlove XXL.

If money is no object, the ClubGloves are fantastic.

Sun Mountain Atlas holds all my stuff and staff bag, it also comes with it's own stiff arm. This is a cool concept that has a hard top and bottom and when not in use it will collapse into something really small.

It also has wheels, I have used mine for 2.5 years.

I don't know how much you travel and play golf, but if it's quite a bit and you're willing to spend some money and get a travel bag, get the Last Bag by Club Glove, it's by far the best on the market.
