WRXers:

I use a few widgets on my desktop (weather, calendar, iTunes, and such) that I've found quite useful. I'm wondering if anyone's found a widget that keeps a realtime leaderboard for PGA Tour (or other) events. If there's not one yet, I'll bet there soon will be.

Anybody found one?

I see the scrolling leadboard at UST's site....but I'm looking for a downloadable widget for my desktop.

In general, I just use PGATour.com to follow progress.

Thanks for the link, though.

I have designed a few basic widgets, and if there is a live scoring widget maybe I'll go ahead and do one. It shouldn't be too hard to relay live scoring from another sites database to a desktop widget.

I'll look around to see if I can find one, if not maybe I'll work on one next week.

Actually a WRX branded widget might not be a bad idea - It could even integrate one of the RSS feeds to golf news here.

I'm guessing you're looking for an OSX widget right? Is anyone interested in another platform while I'm doing it? Vista? Google desktop?

This is a great idea. I'm sure one of the GolfWRX sponsors would love to have their name on it (or at least have it hyperlink to their site). I'd imagine that either a scrolling list or a more static top ten would work. The static one (which would sync every minute or few) would take up less memory.

I do use OSX, most of the time.

The problem is the licensing of the data to feed the widget. The UST one is an html ticker if you pop it out.

True.

If we can find a RSS feed there shouldn't be a problem as its provided for syndication. Worse comes to worse I can write something that isn't published and can be used by who ever wants it here at WRX.

screen scraping proably isn't an option. I'll see what I can do as well.

I'd LOVE one for XP! This sounds like a great idea. The Top 10 idea would be perfect...if I wanted to check someone else I'd just pull up Pgatour.com.

As a side note, I'd love to have a leader board widget/plugin for my blog.

I just bought a new laptop with Vista. A leaderboard gadget would be a great idea, better than most of the ones they have standard. Let us know if you can do it, and thanks!

I haven't developed a widget for vista yet, but I have done google and OSX. I would imagine it would be very similar. Widgets are basically trimmed down web pages which are coded in Java, CSS and even standard HTML.

I wont be able to jump into until next week, but maybe I'll have something going for the large part of the season.

if you go to the golf channel's website and choose one of the tours from the full field scores drop down arrow, it takes you to the leaderboard......a floating pop up box will trigger and you can choose any of the tours to follow (pga, euro, lgpa, nationwide, champions, usga events). i use it all day long at work on thursday and friday

I use the Golf Channels pop out leader board too. It's great to keep an eye on your fantasy golf picks.
