Don't know if there has ever been a topic on this but what is your best score to par? Mine is a six under 66 with no drop shots!

Let's hear about those good rounds.

76

I know it may not be anything special but it happened twice this year for me. Both time I started off with a horrible first hole, both were doubles. The first time I ended with a double also, the second time I shot +1 on the back, which is a nine I never broke 42 on before.

Sunday night I tied my best score ever of 6 over on my local 9 hole course. While that may not seem very good to most of you it was extra special for me. Reason being is that score was 1 stroke better than my long time friend and playing partner who taught me almost everything I know about golf. It was the first time I ever beat him!

10 birdies, an eagle and a bogey for a smooth 59. It was a 6000 yard muni track with good greens. Got the scorecard framed and hanging in my son's room. It was a 4 man team taking 2 low balls. Our team lost by a stroke and the next lowest score out of the other 5 groups was a 68.

Not anything special, but my lowest round has been an 82. I blew it on the last two holes thinking I had a chance to break 80.

76 on a par 72 from 7200 yards. 39 - 37 - should have birdied the 18th hole.
Quick, funny story about the 18th: We we standing on the tee as the sun was setting, so our match was already over, but my buddies knew that I was on pace for a career round. Anyways, we get to the tee and in the middle of my downswing I rip a massive fart... I also ripped my best drive of the day - 290 straight down the middle. Leaving myself a wedge and a two putt for the par.
Needless to say, we all shared quite the laugh at my expense!

My best is a 75 on a really tough course (Sharf at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan). For some reason my game gets better on better courses, as I can't break 85 at a local muni, but I can play championship courses of 6700 + yards in 80 - 83 usually.
Oh well....its the six inches between my ears.

Career best is 69 at this years club championship. I actually doubled the first hole, which was a par 5.
Like Colin Montgomerie says, "Every good rounds starts with at least a bogey!" I have 5 birdies on the remaining 17 holes and no bogies

My all time best round was when I was a 12 or 13 hcp and shot a 78 on the Par 72 Niagara Falls Whirlpool Course in Canada.
Now my hcp is between 8 and 9 and I shot a pair of 75's this summer in Buffalo....3 over.
Very happy things are going well.

(-5) 67. It was a complete fluke, but it happened this year. I was -5 through 11 holes and held on without a bogey. It was a fluke because I dont make that many birdies and it was my first ever round without a single hole over par.

67 (-5) is best on a real course...........shot a 63 on the cow pasture of a muni I grew up on, but that's like logging your putt putt scorecard for your handicap.

Never gone as low as some of those scores..
66 is my best round as far as I remember, although I've shot some pretty good numbers round my own track, including a genuine 28 for the back nine once.
Nowadays, I'm happy with anything under par, even on easy courses. Ho hum. Still hold a 1.8 handi though, but my putting in particular has taken a nosedive, particularly on the 15-20 footers; I used to think the hole was a bucket. Now I just hope I don't make myself look stupid and 3-jerk it... As I remember, you have to hole putts to score low...

66 3 times this year. Incidently this is also the course record at my home course. All rounds had at least 1 bogey in them, one was on the last hole (what a choker).

Check out the book "Fearless Golf" by Dr. Gio. You will break 80 before you finish the book I promise you!!! Enjoy!

I see from posts above that Sam has an 8.6 handicap but has never broken 80, and somewhere else someone has a 0.8 handicap but never broken par.
These handicaps would be very difficult to achieve using the UK handicapping. Assume Sam's course has a rating of 72, (SSS in the UK). Every score over 83 (72 plus 9 handicap plus 2 "buffer") would increase Sam's handicap by 0.1. It would take a score of 80 or less to reduce it by any amount (80-9 = 71, 1 below SSS).
Likewise 0.8 handicap would increase with every score above +3. So if there are no scores below par, there must be a ton in the 0 to +3 range to maintain the handicap.
I clearly don't understand the US handicap system.

That is highway robbery
Seriously, great round.

Everything was clicking, it was just point and shoot, and the course was very short and wide open. You never know what I can do. My problem is that I shoot par for most holes, and then I throw up on myself and post a triple bogey or something. That is the only real difference for me between a great round and a bad round.
Yesterday I set my 9 hole record of -1, YAY!
But, yeah, that was a pretty ridiculous handicapped score

73 twice... the most recent of which I lipped out a 15 footer on the 17th AND a 10 footer on the 18th, both for birdie which would've given me an even par 72!!!!!!
i stroked both putts purely, just hit them too hard. damn nerves!!!!

60 (12 under) on a par 72....9 birdies in a row, and 12 total. That day I hit 17 greens in regualtion and had 23 putts. Zinger had the course record at 63 until I shot 60 and at over 7,000 yds. I really don't see it being beaten cause I was on fire. I lipped out (literally) a 30 foot eagle on the 18th hole for 59

Can't play like that anymore though!!!

63 on a 6950 par 72 layout in a USGA qualifyer (morning round - afternoon round was 75 and missed by two). That was almost 20 years ago though. Today I am a 72 to 86 type of guy due to lack of play time...It just depends on whether Jeckyll or Hyde shows up. If Jeckyll then...

My personal best is a 78 on a Par 72 and I opened up double, double

Then I reeled off 3 consecutive birdies and 4 for the day
Also can someone care to explain the US handicap system in here of in another thread please? Im really confused how that work lol. In Australia we need to shoot about 4-5 under our handicaps to even have a sniff of dropping .2 or .3 . It takes a really really really good round to get anywhere near dropping anything significant.

My personal best round ever is a -4 66 with 7 birdies. I also set my personal best for 9 holes with a -4 31 on the front nine during that round and held on with an even par 35 on the back. I had five birdies on the front and two on the back. Five birdies is my best for 9 holes and I have done that one other time. I have shot even par many times and never could break through and then bam I fire a 66! I shot a 68 a week later and have not been able to break par for 18 holes since. Going through a bit of a slump right now were anything below 80 is good :-) Amazing how ones game gets hot and cold during a season. Thats also why I think Tigers cut streak was so amazing. I can go out and shoot even par one day and the next day shoot 14 over. How can someone play so damn good week in and week out for several YEARS straight?

Amazing!!!
