They popularized the stand golf bag with their "Grasshopper" design more than a decade ago; being the first to integrate legs into stand bags. Their pattern of creative development has continued over the last few years with products ranging from the Speed Cart push cart to Rainflex outerwear.<u1:p></u1:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:arial;"><span style=";font-family:";font-size:12;" > </span>They clearly take the time to understand devoted golfers and their needs.<u1:p></u1:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" face="arial">Even further illustration of this can be with the arrival of the H20 Tech bag, what they claim is the first waterproof golf bag.<u1:p></u1:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" face="arial">Just think, not more ruined cigars, cell phones, and rules books. Rain or otherwise, you know your equipment will keep dry. </p> <p class="MsoNormal"> To create this 2007 introduction the company utilized the frame of their popular 3.5 Superlight Bag. It is a wise choice as that bag was a big seller for the company.<span style=""> </span>"Superlight 3.5 was designed on the premise of 'sacrifice nothing but weight'," explained Sun Mountain founder Rick Reimers. "We accomplished it! <span style=""> </span>And now with H2O Tech we have further perfected it."<o:p></o:p></p><span style=""></span> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">The waterproof pockets and rainhood on the H2O Tech use the same waterproof construction as Sun Mountain's line of rainwear including waterproof fabric, taped seams, and YKK® waterproof zippers. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">H2O Tech features all of the innovations that made the Superlight 3.5 so popular including a top collar handle that provides a convenient spot to grab when removing the bag from the shoulder, top-moulded stand attachment for stability, patented Roller-Bottom stand mechanism with recessed Y-Spring, improved X-Strap® Dual Strap for added comfort, and five pockets, including a full length clothing pocket.<u1:p></u1:p> <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">The new built-in top collar handle is part of H2O Tech's integrated one-piece top that combines the top cuff, the built-in collar handle, and the upper stand bracket. <span style=""> </span>This six-way top with full-length dividers also offers a higher strap attachment point that effectively moves the centre of gravity of the bag resulting in a more balanced bag for easier carrying, according the company. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">
</span>The H2O Tech will be available February 2007 in two colours, solid black and solid goldenrod (pictured), with a full-suggested retail price of (US) $229.99. <u1:p></u1:p></p><span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:9;" ></span><p class="MsoNormal">

I am surprized that no other company came up with the idea. Pulling a raincover over the whole bag is just annoying and out of date. good product there. Ogio! do the same!
xal951
the thing looks like a space suit, plus how do you cover the heads of the clubs...still need a rain cover

you do, but you don't have to pull a big cover over the whole bag, blocking zippers, towel and stuff...

How about just waterproof pockets? It would be cheaper and still protect your items. Keep gloves, scorecard, rulebook, cellphone, smokes, etc dry.

Simple but BRILLIANT!

My only complaint is that the straps on that bag are much too thin!!

It was the dealbreaker for me.

Now if they went with the Lightning Straps, they'd have a sale.

Idiots! (expressing my frustration with SM)

Absolutely. I have a Mizuno Twister bag with the same problem. Bag straps should be as thick as a filet mignon, not a Steak'um!

Hey Hipcheck -- Do me and Others a favor -- go to www.sunmountain.com -- go to contact us and fill out a complaint re a Bag -- about the SL 3.5 straps. Give them some heck for being so idiotic - in a rational way of course.

Thanks for helping.

PS Others that read this -- please do the same -- I don't care if a thicker strap adds a couple of ounces -- a better strap makes the bag feel lighter.

I returned my SM 3.5 because of the crappy straps. The 2005 version was PERFECT. Thick straps, all the features. Their bags are going downhill.
Gxgolfer
Can the straps be replaced with Ogios?
AcesAZ
Thats funny. LOL I thought the same thing, that bag looks pretty cool but the straps look crappy. Why can't they just put the same thick padded straps as on the Titleist bags???

Swing, DONE. Ok, now everyone else fill out this form and tell them to fix the straps.

Grass roots here people. Let's change a little part of the world for the better.

I need to update all that are interested on further Sun Mountain developments.

Since I mentioned that I'd rather have thicker straps on a SM 3.5SL or even the Mini Bag, I checked with my retailer, who called SM.

If you order through your retailer, SM will take a 3.5 bag and place the thicker straps of the Lightning bag on to your 3.5 - just ask the retailer to order that way - no extra charge. I also called SM CS and they confirmed.

Then I asked "What else is new besides the H20 Tech bag with waterproof pockets and zippers are you introducing?

CS told me that they are debuting at the PGA Show a 3.5SL with HUG strap. It is the 3.5 bag with a strap designed to reduce the strain on your shoulders and place it on the hips. She could not give me more details -- except it is an aluminum-based strap - not a belt (I think) - that helps balance the bag and take off weight.

Sounds good!

Guess I'll wait until after the PGA Show to order a bag. I certainly need a HUG sometimes when playing.

If anyone is going to the Show, please watch for this "innovation" with details!

Thanks.

Done.
Maybe they'll send us all free bags w/ improved straps!
Ok, probably not, but worth a shot.

Perhaps HUG is SMs answer to Ogios Shling.... Shling is great but far from perfect, i am curious if SM can do that better!
