I am a laser man. One reason is that hardly any courses in my area have been skycaddied.

Laser is the only way to go as you can get the exact yardage on the short shots. No more guessing if it is 56 or 64 yards over that knob. Big difference.

Agreed - but it depends on the golfer.
With a perfect fix with 5+ satellites the best you're going to get is +/-3 meters with any public GPS systems. There are some GPS systems that can do about 20 centimeters, but they're not offered to the public, especially for golf

+/- 3 meters is nothing to some golfers, and an entire different shot for others. It depends on your skill level and your desired results. If you want something extremely easy to use, very limited human error, and able to give you a rough estimate, GPS is great. The lasers are much more accurate, but can take some skill to use. If the accuracy isn't a big deal to you, and you'd like to access relative distances quickly, get a sky caddie.

Skycaddie is super easy. I turn mine on & put it in the cup holder of my speed cart. Not sure if it makes me play better but I know for sure I play much faster. No messing around looking for yardage or aiming at an object. Just look down for a quick view of the middle of the green yardage...

i love my pinseeker 1500. i like being able to get a yardage to practically anything. the skycaddie is a great device too but I just prefer the 1500.

I have both systems - laser - Leica Pinmaster (with first target priority - similar to the Seeker) and SG 2.
My verdict - IF the Caddie has plenty of courses professionally mapped in your area, it is much easier, less time consuming, accurate and contributes to the rhythm of the game - esp when walking. I put mine on my bag, look down, flip through options, and go.
With the Laser, I've got to get it out of a case, look, look at another target, put it back in case - start the routine.
The Caddie is less troublesome and less time consuming on the course.
Using both is ideal. Use the laser at the range and practice pitching green, if nothing else.

I am with Swingman.
I use both. SG2 and an older Pinseeker
The Skycaddie is faster and much easier to use. It's plenty accurate for me and helps keep a rhythm when I play. Walk up to your ball, check the book for pin placement, look at the Skycaddie and start your pre-shot routine. Plus, the handy yardage marker lets you accurately measure how far your previous shot went. Say you tee off on a par 5. Hit the "mark" button and move to your ball. hit "mark" again, and you know how far you hit your tee shot. It's handy when you want to know how far you hit a flush shot.
I use the laser on the range and on the short game practice area at my course. If I want to hit 50yd shots, I know when I am exactly 50 yds from the target.

Pinseeker 1500. Tried both laser and skycaddie, and it's basically a toss up. Whatever you find easier to use and get the best results from.
