The 2006 season has been a long one, but golf fans have been treated to another exciting year in the world of golf. The past month has also been a crazy one, mostly outside the PGA Tour. The Tour Championship wrapped up in early November, and the golf spotlight then shifted towards the LPGA Tour and European Tour.Lorena Ochoa held off Karrie Webb to win the LPGA Tour Player of the Year award, and Julieta Granada won a million dollars in the season's final event. Padraig Harrington, coming off his recent European Tour Order of Merit title, beat Tiger Woods in a playoff to win the Dunlop Phoenix. 1Padraig Harrington defeated Tiger Woods on the second playoff hole to win the Dunlop Phoenix and continue his solid play over the past couple months.
2Lorena Ochoa won her sixth tournament of the season along with her first LPGA Tour Player of the Year Award.
3Adam Scott ended his PGA Tour win drought by winning the season-ending Tour Championship. Scott also finished third on the 2006 PGA Tour money list.
4Tiger Woods won the Grand Slam of Golf and also finished second at the Dunlop Phoenix and HSBC Champions.
5Julieta Granada won the exciting season-ending ADT Championship and the million dollars that came with it. Granada may be on her way to Disneyland!
6Paul Azinger was named captain of the 2008 United States Ryder Cup team. Azinger and ex-television buddy Nick Faldo will go head-to-head at Valhalla.
7Karrie Webb won her fifth LPGA Tour event of the season to complete a great comeback year. Webb finished second on the LPGA Tour money list.
8Stephen Ames had some "silly season" fun in winning the LG Skins Game. Ames won a total of $590,000 in the event.
9Yang Yong-eun outlasted Tiger Woods, Michael Campbell, and Retief Goosen en route to winning the HSBC Champions event in China.
10Craig Kanada earned his PGA Tour card by winning the Nationwide Tour Championship. Kanada chipped in at the 71st and 72nd holes to springboard to the top of the leaderboard.
11Justin Rose won the MasterCard Masters to put the icing on the cake of a very consistent 2006 season. Winning on the PGA Tour should be next in line.
12Dick's Sporting Goods jumped headfirst into the golf industry by acquiring Golf Galaxy. Every season will definitely start at Dick's from now on.
13Jim Furyk won the Vardon Trophy for best scoring average throughout the PGA Tour season. There may be an asterisk next to it, but Furyk's name is on it nonetheless.
