I know the open hasn't been at Oakmont for a number of years but I am needing some early information. I am going this summer and am looking for any good insiders info on where are good places to watch, get seats, reachable par 5's...etc.

Any info will be greatly appreciated. we are going up for the practice round on Wednesday and teh 1st round on Thursday...Staying at the Mountain View Campground in a RV $100 a night with a shuttle to the open.

Holes 4 and 12 will be the par 5's i really doubt hole 9 will cause it is less then 500 yards so it will be a long par 4. the 4th hole will be the most reachable playing on an older score card around 540, the 12th is over 600 yards so only Tiger will get there if he chooses . the par 3's is were alot of people sat around and there will be grandstands around greens all over the place. Also i think it is hole 16 or 17 that is a driveable par 4 can be interesting there. Have fun i will be there sunday!

Thanks...I have been to several tournaments in VA and MD but never the US Open. I am pretty excited...obviously since I am planning where I want to sit 6 months in advance...

You will really enjoy it, i was at the last one here in 94. What part of town is your RV being parked in?

We are parking the RV at Mountain TOp Campground...tehy are charging 100 bucks a night but are offering a shuttle to the course. It is a little north west of the golf course...they have a huge bluegrass festival there later in the summer. I hope it is a decent place to stay...Not that it will worry me much all we will do there is eat, sleep, and drink...probably a lot.
