Full Version: Stand or Tour Bag?

I am planning to fly over from the UK to California/Oregon area in June of next year to go on a month long golf trip. I plan to play a mix of the best courses, as well as lots of 'Highly Commended' courses

The trip is still in the planning stages but I am wondering:

Are most courses Cart only/Cart reccomended? So a Tour bag will be best. Or am I better taking normal stand bag with me?

Obviously If I take the tour bag out and I get to a place with no caddies/Carts I will be a little stuck (I cannot stand pull trollies). But then my stand bag may get battered on a Cart, and the lack of storage is a factor.

If you were in my position, what would you take out with you?

Thanks, Jon

I'd take the staff bag. More room for storage, and I don't think you'll have a problem finding a course that doesn't have a Caddie system or carts.

Id do the staff bag.

Almost all American courses have carts or caddies; however, I would go with the stand bag. Les hassle and you can always store extras in your travel cover.

I would go with a staff bag. more room and at pretty much every course there are carts or caddies

another vote for the stand bag. you might wanna pick up some souvenirs and it's a great place to put them for the ride back. have fun!

To tell you the truth, I can't think of a single course I've ever played in the US that didn't have carts or caddies. I'm not sure you could find one even if you tried. Bring the Tour bag.

Personally I would take a stand bag - I've never ever had it get battered on a cart. Secondly you never know when you may stumble on a great walking course.

Stand bag. Real golfers walk.

But seriously, if you go somewhere where there are caddies, they won't even pack your bag, they'll likely provide one for you....one for them to carry.

I hate lugging a big bag through the airport and up and down to hotel rooms etc. I'd bring the stand bag. In fact that's exactly what I do anytime I travel where airports are involved.

Tour bag. Plenty of storage room, and will protect your clubs better. Almost all courses, even high end will have either caddies or carts.

always go with the tour bag
