OK Guys,

My parents are going to be spending February/March in Arizona this year... it is a long way from Rhode Island, and I am not sure what the restaurants are and which are good and which aren't.

I need some suggestions as I am getting them a gift certificate out in Scottsdale... what is the best place?

I posted this a little down as well - Thanks for all the great Suggestions so Far:

Gent's,

Thanks for the suggestions so far...

Here is a more detailed description... I kind of posted in a Hurry Last Night...

Not Sure Where they are staying... I know that they Rented a House there for about a month. Usually they have been vacationing in the Bahamas, but they chose AZ this year.

I am looking for one of those CAN'T MISS LOCAL RESTAURANTS. No offense to a Cheesecake Factory or a Ruth Chris Steakhouse, but those are National Chains that we have here in the Good Ole' Northeast. They are excellent but available elsewhere.

My parents are pretty easy going and laid back. My mother is a vegetarian, who eats Seafood, and my father can eat anything. Steakhouses are great - just not the best for my Mom to dine at.

Thanks again guys!

Matt

Is there a certain type of food that they prefer? There are a bunch of good restaurants in Scottsdale.
Z Tejas and The Salt Cellar are two of my favorites. Let me know where in Scottsdale they will be (North, South, or Old Town) and I may be able to give you some more options.

Thanks,
Tyler

You gotta hit Cowboy Caio!

Real cool restaurant--great atmosphere with a new twist on tradition American/western fair.

There are so many good restaurants in Scottsdale your head will spin.

Don & Charlie's (www.donandcharlies.com) has a great reputation. Local favorite.
Ruth's Chris (www.ruthschris.com) is another super steak house.
Streets of New York (www.streetsofnewyork.com) great pizza and calzones. Very casual.
Houston's (www.houstons.com) my favorite place for lunch and what a great burger. Love the environment.

You can't go wrong at some of the upscale courses like Grayhawk and Troon North. They have good food inside as well.

I've been to The Salt Cellar on a few occasions. Great food! There was also a great restaurant at the James Hotel in Scottsdale. Can't remember the name.

I always go to Houston's when I am in town. They have great food and it is a fun place to go.

What about Ocean Club in Kierland/Scottsdale? I love that place. Great steaks and great eye candy.
Mikolar
Eddie V's or Wildfish...they are owned by the same company and are only located in a few places.

Great, great seafood and a very good bone in ribeye. Oysters are special and their carpetbagger steak ( a filet filled with fried oysters and a cream sauce) is really special.

If you want good Mexican, Los Olivos in Scottsdale. Its a small family owned joint, but its is UNREAL for good mexican.

Sassi (480-502-3335) on Pinnacle Peak Pkwy is my all-time favorite restaurant in Scottsdale. It's relatively new, and is an awesome setting up on the side of a hill overlookig Scottsdale. It's built like an old, Italian villa, and the food is spectacular.
