It has been set up to be an amatuer tour but I think next years' format will change so that when you top ten you have the option of being payed out in cheque or voucher so those that wish to can retain amatuer status, those who don't care can cash cheques.

I feel that some things must evolve to attract the most players possible.

2006 is shaping up nicely.

That was at our course, Dundee Country Club this year...I sure hope the calibre of players on that tour gets better because the field was brutal!!!

The course was brutal and is the 1st one pulled off the schedule to never return.

When I set the pins and make a pin sheet and the superintendant puts the pins elsewhere stop.gif

Many guys have been under par at other tracks where the pin sheet was accurate.

BTW. 90% of the field are single digit handicaps EVERY week. If you think theres no talent on this tour then you should sign up and win all the money.
gillionaire
How big are the fields for these tournaments on average?

Is handicap factored in the final score for all tournaments? I would hate for a guy who shoots high 80's like myself actually win biggrin.gif
GRT
Yeah , they're all low gross AND low net. Since I took care of the sandbagger issue by entering ALL tournament scores into the tour handicap system you can accually win low net with a score of 1 or 2 under.

The inaugeral years' fields have been kinda weak with just under 30 players every two weeks. We have almost 60 members but can't seem to get everyone to the same event so far.

2006 looks promising as everyone knows someone interested in playing.
RRyders88
If I remember correctly, there was a huge rainstorm when you set the pins and you didn't even finish doing the pins the day before...and due to the large amount of rain, unless you want to ruin our greens for a month by cutting pins on soaked spots of the green, they have to be on level dry spots.
What a sad excuse, pins didnt match pin sheet...that doesn't make the scores high, all you have to do is look up at the green! search.gif Nobody comes and plays well at Dundee either because its tough, evin if it was "brutal".
RRyders88
Also, next time get signs made up that don't spell Amateur "Amatuer" when they're posted in clubhouses all over Southern Ontario!!!!
captaincheat
I guess with the prize money, you will be giving up your amatuer status eh!
GRT
Thats why we're giving the option of getting vouchers OR prize money in 2006.
If you care about your AM status you need to take the voucher, if you don't .... take the cash or voucher.

2006 will include a tourny at ANGUS GLEN, FOREST CITY NATIONAL, GREY SILO. so far.
GRT
Add Copetown Woods, Osprey Valley Heathlands, and Hidden Lake (home of the Canadian Open qualifier) to the 2006 GRT tour schedule.

I'm not very familiar with the Ontario area, but would these tracks be within a reasonable drive from Buffalo, NY??? There really isn't much good amature golf around here, so if I don't have to drive a long way I'll sign up and play.

I have played most of these course and unfortunatley for you I would say these tracks are not within a reasonable drive from buffalo. Some of them may be serval hours to get to atleast. They are all very good courses though, and they might be worth the trip once or twice but not every other month with the price of gas.

hello fellow wrx'ers,

this is a great tour and i have a funny story to go along with it. i actually work at the greens at renton and when someone who was soposed to play didnt show i took his spot and weel what do you know i won the thing. im serious it was awesome it was my first tournament win ever and i beat old guys hell im only 19. so yes its a great tour and i have to say i would recomend it to anybody in the area, but ill be back to defend... bb.gif
GRT
Hey Tobybear, whats shaken?

Next years' schedule might not include the Greens @ Renton. As much as I liked your home track I have stepped up the quality of the courses a whole nother level for 2006 to attract more players.

A bunch of them are Toronto way and I hope some of the Toronto guys will travel west a bit to play out here too.

You are more than welcome to sign up and play the 2006 schedule.

The early bird rate for 2006 membership will end January 1st. The 2006 tour website isn't complete but will have all the details as soon as its up.
GRT
Hey BuffaloTim, if you wanted to play our tour I could find you local accomodations to make your play a little more user friendly.
Many of our tour members have offered up their places for out-of-town players for the tour championship this weekend so I'm sure it can be arranged for 2006.
These guys are a great bunch and super friendly.

We need something like this here in Manitoba! It would pad Stewie's or Flogpro's account nicely as they would probably win everything.

God Bless

Now that my 2006 schedule is done I just need to work on the website, a few volunteers and some good practice round rates for my members.

Unfortunately, with fall having arrived that means very few golf days left here in south western Ontario.

Very good list of course's but Hidden Lake is in Burlington not Hamilton.

Is there an age limit to this tour?

Brad
GRT
No age limit. Anyone who thinks they can play is eligable.
GRT
Dropping the word "amatuer." and playing for cash OR vouchers in '06.

You can choose whatever you want to play for.

Also added a Canadian golf forum based out of Ontario.
